[News from the News Center] Several days before, the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China (MOE) released the list of 2018 collaborative innovation centers co-constructed by the Province and the Ministry, and YSU Intelligent Equipment of High-quality Steel Production Technology Collaborative Innovation Center Co-constructed by Hebei Provincial Government and MOE (the Center) was selected as the first batch of collaborative innovation centers co-constructed by the Province and the Ministry.
In 2012, China implemented the plan of innovation enhancement for higher education (2011 Project), which is another strategic initiative reflecting the will of the state in Chinese higher education after “211 Project” and “985 Project”. In order to seize this opportunity, YSU attaches great importance to the overall planning: set up the project committee and project affairs office. In 2013, YSU “Modern Rolling Technology and Advanced Steel Materials Collaborative Innovation Center” and “Metastable Materials Science Collaborative Innovation Center” were recognized as the first batch of Hebei Provincial collaborative innovation centers, and received strong support; in 2016, YSU “Advanced Forming Technology and Equipment Collaborative Innovation Center” was certified and included in the second batch of Hebei Provincial collaborative innovation centers and the “Hebei Coastal Areas of Harbor Industrial Development Collaborative Innovation Center” was included in the list of development.
In May 2018, according to the “Coordinated Measures to Promote the Construction of World First-Class Universities and First-Class Disciplines (Provisional)”jointly issued by the MOE, the Ministry of Finance, and the National Development and Reform Commission, the collaborative innovation center was changed from being constructed by the MOE to co-constructed by the MOE and the Province, and the application and certification work were initiated. YSU attaches great importance to this work and held several meetings for this work. Based on “Hebei Modern Rolling Technology and Advanced Steel Materials Collaborative Innovation Center”, the Center was certified by the MOE through YSU’s a series of work such as optimizing and integrating collaborative innovation resources and summing up the mechanism reform and operation experience.
The first batch of the co-constructed collaborative innovation centers certified by the MOE totaled 59, involving 34 universities and colleges on the “Double First-Class” list, and 19 off the list. Six military-civilian integration centers were not announced. In accordance with the relevant requirements, the MOE, provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions will give preferential policy and priority support to the co-constructed collaborative innovation centers in personnel management, talent planning, enrollment targets, scientific research tasks and distribution policies. The achievements of the co-constructed centers will serve as an important reference for the evaluation of the “Double First-Class” construction in universities and colleges. The successful selection of the Center will contribute to building YSU into a “Double First-Class” university.
