[News from News Center] On Nov. 19th, the Final of 15th “Challenge Cup” (Bank of China) National College Extracurricular Academic Science and Technology Contest was held at Shanghai University. After heated competition, YSU obtained excellent results with 3 Second Prizes, 2 Third Prizes, and 1Silver Award for Progressive Innovation.

With “We Challenge, We Change” as the theme, the 15th “Challenge Cup” attracted a total of 600,000 projects from more than 2000 colleges and universities to participate in competition. After the school-level, provincial and national competitions, 755 projects from 314 universities and colleges were selected to the final. More than 120 expert judges (including two academicians), more than 10,000 teachers and students from all over the country, more than 200 staff, and more than 4,000 student volunteers participated in the final competition.
Since the launch, preparation, and school-level selection of “Challenge Cup” in the latter half of 2016, YSU leaders attached great importance to it and Communist Youth League YSU Committee well organized. Through the application, special training, multiple rounds of defense, provincial competition and improvement, outstanding works were selected to participate in the national contest. During the preparation, Sheng Huang, YSU Vice President, provided guidance for the School in person and proposed suggestions for improvement; teachers from other Schools also provided their suggestions and support. During the competition, all students participated actively, took it seriously, and strove for win, fully demonstrating the overall quality of YSU students and their excellent innovation ability in science and technology.

Known as the Chinese College Students of Academic Science and Technology “Olympic” Event, “Challenge Cup” National College Extracurricular Academic Science and Technology Contest is a national demonstrative mass competition with guidance. The 15th “Challenge Cup” contest is sponsored by the Communist Youth League Central Committee, China Association for Science and Technology, Ministry of Education, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, All-China Students’ Federation and Shanghai Municipal People’s Government, and hosted by Shanghai University.
