Comparison   between Confucianism and  American Puritans

This series of lectures explore and compare political culture between China and America. The study of political culture is often subjective or even biased. Seemingly objective sampling can be inevitably superficial. A sense of distance from the perspective of research may be beneficial. The true face of Lushan is lost to my sight, for it is right in this mountain that I reside. This research takes a different perspective: Tocqueville looks at America from a French point of view; Weber sees China from a German point of view; the lecturer is a Chinese American. The purpose is not to provide answers, but to encourage students to think about some important issues of the comparison.

About the lecturer: Mr. Hua, born in 1956, Chinese American, graduated with a Ph.D. from the University of Hawaii. His hometown is Funing, Hebei. He is a tenured professor and Director of “Asian Studies Program” (Asia Research Division) at the University of Louis Weill. He is also a Shaanxi Hundred Talents Project scholar, a member of the review committee of Chang Jiang Scholars by the Chinese Ministry of Education, and YSU Guest Professor. He has been a guest professor for Peking University, Nankai University, Jilin University, Renmin University of China, Party School of the Central Committee of CPC, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and Northwest University.
