About the Lecturer: Prof. Heng Li is a doctoral supervisor at School of Materials Science and Engineering, Northwestern Polytechnical University (NWPU) and Director of Department of Materials Forming & Control Engineering.
Prof. Li obtained his Bachelor’s Degree, Master’s Degree and Doctor’s Degree at NWPU from 1997 to 2007, did his research and studies at Department of Mechanical Engineering under the Hong Kong Polytechnic University from 2007 to 2008, and taught at NWPU since 2008. He won National Science Fund for Excellent Young Scholars in 2015 and was selected in National Youth Top-notch Talent Program in 2014 and Program for New Century Excellent Talents in University of Ministry of Education of China in 2010.
Prof. Li focuses on the teaching and research of plasticity and advanced plastic forming, including:
(1) Plasticity related solid mechanics (Plastic instabilities, elastic recovery, etc.)
(2) Modeling & simulation of whole plastic forming processes (Multi-scale and Multi-physics)
(3) Precision forming of hard-to-deform materials with difficult-to-form complex structures
Li holds and participates in more than 20 projects, including the National Natural Science Fund of China, National Key Basic R&D Plan, Equipment Pre-research and Technology Cooperation. He has published more than 100 papers on journals such as IJP, JMPT, IJMS and IJMTM, and more than 70 on SCI, and he was one of the Elsevier Most Cited Chinese Researchers. Prof. Li has 12 National invention patents and 12 software copyrights. Besides, he won the Second Prize of State Technological Invention Award, 2 First Prizes of Shaanxi Province Science and Technology, “Best Poster Award” in ICTP, and “Excellent Paper Award” of IMCC. Heng Li is also the editorial board member of Chinese Journal of Aeronautics and other four journals.
