On Sep. 11th, the kick-off meeting for 2017 national project “Intelligent Process Control Technology of Aluminum/Copper Strip Based on Industrial Big Data” under “Upgrading and Industrialization of Key Basic Material Technology” was held at YSU National Engineering Research Center for Equipment and Technology of Cold Strip Rolling (“National Engineering Center” for short). Over 30 scholars, experts and technicians from Shandong Nanshan Aluminum Co. Ltd., Yanshan University, Northeastern University (NEU), Henan University of Science and Technology (HAUST), Tongling Jinwei Cooper Corp., University of Science and Technology Beijing (USTB), Taiyuan University of Science and Technology, and University of Shanghai for Science and Technology attended the meeting. The meeting was hosted by Prof. Yan Peng from National Engineering Center. Several topics were fully discussed including project management, implementation ideas, implementation effects, internal control system, and financial system; candidates for expert group, executive group, financial group, office, and secretariat were preliminary selected; the person in charge was determined; the schedule for the project was made. All these would strength the coordination among participants, and ensure the achievement of the expected goal on schedule.

In July 2010, National Engineering Center successfully applied for the national key research and development project----“Intelligent Process Control Technology of Aluminum/Copper Strip Based on Industrial Big Data”, receiving a total fund of 54.24 million yuan from the Ministry of Science and Technology. Its five issues are respectively undertook by NEU, YSU, HAUST, Shandong Nanshan Aluminum Co. Ltd., and Tongling Jinwei Cooper Corp. Besides, another 14 influential scientific research institutions and enterprises in the industry participated in the project, including Shandong University, USTB and Kunming University of Science and Technology.
As an initiator, National Engineering Center is responsible for the issue of “Big Data-Driven Common Technology of Process Parameter Deep Optimization of Aluminum/Copper Strip Production” and participated in the research of two other issues. In recent years, in order to promote structural adjustment and industrial upgrading of key industries of basic raw materials such as steel and nonferrous metals and meet the requirements of Made in China 2025 national strategy, National Engineering Center, taking the demand of national key projects and the strategic development of new industries as traction and the tasks of national key research and development projects and Natural Science Foundation of China and other national tasks as a carrier, expanded its research field from single ferrous metal metallurgical equipment to nonferrous metal processing equipment technology and its intellectualization, basic research on the deformation mechanism of metal materials and cross-scale constitutive relations, preparation of new composite materials, etc., which provides sustainable support and guidance for key areas of national economy and social development. The kick-off meeting fully demonstrated the scientific research strength of National Engineering Center, further strengthened cooperation between YSU and other participants in key research and development projects, and better released the vigor of National Engineering Center in science and technology innovation.
After the meeting, all the scholars, experts and technicians visited the National Engineering Center and Metastable Materials Science and Technology State Key Laboratory.
