YSU hosted a summer camp for high school students at the Confucius Institute at the University of Toledo, USA


[News from the News Center] From June 23 to July 6, the summer camp for high school students of the Confucius Institute at the University of Toledo, USA was successfully held in our university. There were 21 high school students from eight high schools in the district of the Confucius Institute at the University of Toledo and neighboring cities. Two team teachers from the University of Toledo participated in the summer camp.

During the summer camp, the International Cooperation Division Office carefully designed and arranged a variety of activities, including courses and activities such as Chinese language learning, Chinese classical songs and musical instruments, paper-cutting, martial arts, calligraphy and other Chinese language and culture experience courses. The campers explored Great Wall to understand the history and culture of the Great Wall, visited Qinhuangdao New Century Middle School, observe classroom teaching, participate in classroom interaction between teachers and students; visit Confucius Institute Headquarters/Hanban Office. Through these quality development and language and culture experience learning, the campers personally experienced the unique charm of Chinese culture and deeply experienced the profoundness of Chinese culture.

The annual American High School Summer Camp is a Sino-US cultural exchange brand project jointly developed by the Confucius Institute at the University of Toledo and Yanshan University. It has a good social impact on the Toledo School District and neighborhood. The summer camp aims to enhance the exchanges between Chinese and American young students through Chinese language training, Chinese cultural display and interaction, visits to the Confucius Institute Headquarters, homestay experience in order to deepen the understanding of Chinese language and culture among American high school students. The series of activities have laid an important language and cultural foundation for international communication and Sino-US exchanges.
