Chinese Bridge Delegation Online Program of Yanshan University 2022 - Winter Camp of Online Journey to the Great Wall Culture (Indonesian Delegation) Opens

At 9:00 on December 12 (Beijing time), Chinese Bridge Delegation Online Program of Yanshan University 2022 - Winter Camp of Online Journey to the Great Wall Culture (Indonesian Delegation) opened as scheduled. Cai Changjie, Executive Chairman of Jakarta Chinese Education Coordination Agency in Indonesia, Liu Defen, President of Batam Cirong Junior High School in Indonesia, heads and faculty of China Great Wall Culture Research and Communication Center, School of International Education, School of Arts and Design of YSU, and 100 students from Batam Cirong Junior High School attended the opening ceremony. The meeting was presided over by Jiang Lian, Associate Dean of School of International Education, YSU.

Zhang Wenli, Associate Dean of the School of International Education, delivered a speech on behalf of the university at the opening ceremony. She expressed the hope that the students can improve their understanding of the Great Wall culture and feel the charm of Chinese culture while learning Chinese, that the "Chinese Bridge" can become a bridge for cultural exchanges between the Chinese and Indonesian peoples and that the students will have the opportunity to study at YSU in the future, experience the cultural heritage of the century-old famous university and feel the vastness and majesty of the Great Wall.

In his speech, Cai Changjie expressed his gratitude to the Chinese Bridge program of the Center for Language Education and Cooperation and YSU. He pointed out that "Chinese Bridge" has become an important platform for students from all over the world to learn Chinese and understand China. Language is the basic element of a country and its national culture, and Chinese is the bridge to explore the charm of Chinese culture. "Chinese Bridge" not only deepens Indonesian people's understanding of Chinese language and culture, but also builds a bridge between Indonesian and Chinese youth to promote the friendly exchanges with language and culture. He placed the hope on the students to study hard, enjoy it and gain something.

The faculty also gave a brief introduction to the Chinese course and special cultural lectures of Chinese Bridge, including Great Wall tourism, literature, folk customs, history, music, art and architecture related to the Great Wall. The campers will enjoy the gluttonous feast of the Great Wall Culture and feel the profoundness of the Great Wall Culture through this "Online Journey to the Great Wall Culture".

The representatives of campers have expressed that they are looking forward to the upcoming online cultural journey and cherish this precious learning opportunity. They hope that through this activity, they can have a deeper understanding of the Great Wall culture and fall in love with the Great Wall of China.

In the five-day winter camp of "Online Journey to the Great Wall Culture", faculty will introduce the Great Wall culture while teaching Chinese, in the form of "Chinese + Culture" focusing on seven themes such as history, literature, folk customs, architecture, music, art and tourism of Great Wall. By showing the unique charm of the Great Wall cultural heritage, this winter camp will help the campers have a better understanding of the Great Wall and a stronger interest in Chinese history and culture.
