YSU Hosts 9th Symposium on Emerging Technology of Transportation Electrification

To precisely address national strategic priorities and vigorously promote the development of green, low-carbon, eco-friendly, and intelligent technologies in transportation electrification, the 9th Symposium on Emerging Technology of Transportation Electrification, hosted by the Transportation Electrification Committee of the China Power Supply Society and co-organized by Yanshan University, Tsinghua University and CRRC Zhuzhou Electric Locomotive Institute Co., Ltd., was successfully held in Qinhuangdao from May 22 to 24. The grand event gathered over 300 authoritative scholars and experts from leading universities, research institutions, and industry-leading enterprises in China, the United States, Sweden, the United Kingdom, Denmark, and Australia, alongside representatives from 11 prominent enterprises.

At 8:30 AM on May 23, the opening ceremony of the Symposium commenced as scheduled. The ceremony was presided over by Professor Guo Xiaoqiang, Conference Chair and Dean of YSU School of Electrical Engineering. Zhang Lei, Secretary-General of China Power Supply Society, and Wang Desong, Vice President of YSU delivered insightful addresses.

The Symposium convened globally preeminent academic minds for the specially invited keynote speech session, including Don Tan, Member of the US National Academy of Engineering and IEEE Fellow, Xiongfei Wang, Editor-in-Chief of IEEE Transactions on Power Electronics (TPEL) and IEEE Fellow, Deng Zhanfeng from Huairou Laboratory, Guo Xiaoqiang from YSU, Yu Anbo from Hefei Sungrow E-Power Technology Co., Ltd. (Vice President of YSU (Dongzhong) Automotive Alumni Association), Hu Yunqing from Zhuzhou CRRC Times Electric Co., Ltd., Wu Donghua from CRRC Qingdao Sifang Co., Ltd., Li Yongdong from Tsinghua University, and other industry luminaries. They presented groundbreaking advancements and cutting-edge developments in hydrogen energy technologies, high-speed maglev systems, and transportation electrification, collaboratively exploring new pathways for innovative technological development in transportation electrification.

Following the conclusion of the specially invited keynote presentations, the Symposium flag handover ceremony was solemnly conducted under the moderation of Professor Qu Zhengwei, Dean of YSU Department of Electrical Engineering. Professor Zhu Miao, representing Shanghai Jiao Tong University as the host institution of the 10th Symposium on Emerging Technology of Transportation Electrification, delivered an insightful address before ceremoniously receiving the Symposium flag from Professor Guo Xiaoqiang, Chair of the current symposium, symbolizing the continuation and inheritance of the Symposium's mission.

On the morning of May 24, 11 parallel sessions were meticulously organized, comprehensively encompassing critical research directions in transportation electrification, including electric vehicles, power-to-hydrogen conversion, more-electric aircraft, marine electrification, and artificial intelligence applications.

The Symposium on Emerging Technology of Transportation Electrification was established in 2017 as a premier academic conference jointly initiated by Tsinghua University and CRRC Zhuzhou Institute. Designed to address scientific challenges and key technologies in transportation electrification through keynote presentations and thematic discussions, the Symposium serves as an industry-academia-research collaboration platform for Chinese universities, research institutions, and industrial enterprises.

The Symposium was successfully convened thanks to the tireless dedication of the leadership, faculty, and students at YSU School of Electrical Engineering. Their professional, considerate, and attentive services spanning conference reception, event management, and technical support earned high praise from the attending participants. Their actions have fully demonstrated the sense of responsibility and cohesive spirit inherent in the YSU community and the School of Electrical Engineering. Before an assembly of distinguished scholars and experts from China and abroad, they vividly showcased YSU's remarkable achievements and profound culture, thereby contributing distinctive "YSU strength" to advance academic exchanges and industrial development in the field of transportation electrification.
