YSU co-organizes CAHE Learning Sciences Research Branch annual conference of 2019

[News from the News Center] On Nov.9,the annual conference of the Learning Sciences Research Branch of China Association of Higher Education (CAHE) was held at Peking University (PKU), with the theme of“Learning Sciences and Future Education”. The conference was hosted by CAHE Learning Sciences Research Branch and PKU Graduate School of Education, and was organized by PKU Graduate School of Education and YSUTeaching Research Editorial Office. Over 70 scholars, teachers and graduate students attended the conference from more than 20 universities including PKU, Beijing Normal University (BNU), and YSU.

The opening ceremony was presided over by Dr. Liu Chunrong, Deputy Director of BNU Department of Psychology. Prof. Yan Fengqiao, Dean of PKU Graduate School of Education, gave a welcome speech.Yan introduced the development of the education discipline of PKU, and explained the idea to combine science, experience and humanities together andtransform education research from experience to science. Subsequently, Prof. Liu Hongmin, chairman of the Learning Sciences Research Branch and the former President of YSU, introduced the work of the branch in 2018-2019, and deployed the work in next year.

6 academic reports and 2 round-table forums of the conference were chaired by Li Xingguofrom YSU, Zheng Yonghefrom BNU, Wu Xiaomengfrom PKU, Sun Ju from the Editorial Office of Teaching Research, and Liu Jia fromBNU.

Prof. Yu ShengquanfromBNU points out that people are changing their ways of adapting to the world, forthe Internet has broadened the human brain and their cognitive limit through the combination of human and machine. Prof. ZhengXudongfrom Central China Normal University states that understanding and learningare needed to improve teaching, and education research should transform from experience to theory and to technology. Prof. Shang Junjie points out that learning sciencesaim to enable people better understand the cognitive processand socialization, thereby creating an environment for promoting effective learning. Prof. LüLinhaifrom Nanjing University introduced the three characteristics of Chinese learners.Prof. Zhang Baohuifrom Shaanxi Normal University proposes that engineering education and engineering thinking are to put in primary and middle schoolsSTEM education, and that future education should be applied online and offline. Zhang Jingjing, associate professor from BNU believes that learning science is an area of inheritance and development, which can widely absorb the research results of educational neuroscience.

At the closing ceremony, awardswere presented to the authors who won the “Excellent Paper”. On behalf of the Branch,Secretary-General Liu Jia highly praised this annual conference and expressed heartfelt thanks to the participating organizations. Prof. Shang Junjie from PKU Graduate School of Education, on behalf of organizers, thanked the hosts, co-organizers and the guests for their support.
