Over the years, our university has attached great importance to the preparation of the mathematical modeling competitions. The mathematical modeling competition is very influential for our students. In order to better popularize and select contestants for the national level competition, we overcame the challenges brought by the pandemic and held the 7th YSU Mathematical Contest in Modeling in June this year with the support of the Office of Academic Affairs, the Youth League Committee and other departments. With the efforts of teachers and students, 73 teams selected for provincial competition won 12 first prizes and 37 second prizes, and 11 of them were recommended for national competition.

The Contemporary Undergraduate Mathematical Contest in Modeling (CUMCM) was founded in 1992. It has become the most influential undergraduate academic competition in the universities nationwide. It is also the largest mathematical modeling competition in the world. It is one of the four major competitions for college students sponsored by the Ministry of Education. It is a comprehensive competition that uses mathematics and computer and other related knowledge to solve practical problems. Through the competition, students’ abilities of autonomy, innovation and teamwork have been greatly improved.

The competition attracted 45,680 teams and nearly 130,000 students from 1470 colleges and universities home and abroad.
