[News from the News Center] Recently, the Ministry of Education officially issued the result of the 2018 National Teaching Achievement Award, and YSU’ Engineering Education-based International Equivalent Three Level Education Model won the second prize of the 2018 National Teaching Achievement Award for Higher Education.
This achievement is based on the concept of “Engineering education through engineering approaches”, and puts forward the engineering talent education mode with the characteristics of local engineering colleges and universities, which is an integration of modern engineering product channel and talent education channel in line with the requirements of Washington Accord certification system. It constructs the all-round three-level engineering education model and forms the output-oriented achievement evaluation mechanism which features the multi-dimensional integration of the internationally equivalent knowledge, education quality and in- and out-class dual-track assessment. The achievements have been implemented in the School of Mechanical Engineering and effectively spread to other Schools, providing fruitful experience for similar local colleges and universities, which has attracted extensive attention from the domestic higher engineering education fields. Since the implementation of the achievement, YSU students have significantly improved their innovation and entrepreneurship ability and comprehensive engineering literacy.
This is the first time that YSU has won a national teaching achievement award in the 21stcentury. It is not only an affirmation of the CDIO education reform and the teaching reform based on the OBE carried out in YSU for more than ten years, but also an approval of the teaching reform over the years, and an encouragement for YSU teachers and students to continue to forge ahead.
Being approved by the State Council, National Teaching Achievement Award is the highest award in the field of educational teaching, research and practice in China. The award is divided into three categories: basic education, vocational education and higher education. The establishment of this award is an examination and demonstration of the teaching reforms and educational exploration and development in educational institutions of various levels. The National Teaching Achievement Award is reviewed once every four years. Since the first event in 1989, eight awarding event have been held. In 2018, a total of 452 prizes including 2 Grand prizes, 50 First prizes, and 400 Second prizes, which would receive 500,000 yuan, 100,000 yuan and 20,000 yuan respectively.
