Yanshan University and Botswana International University of Science and Technology Hold an Online Exchange Meeting

At 6:00 p.m. on July 6, Beijing time (12:00 a.m. local time in Botswana), Yanshan University (YSU) and Botswana International University of Science and Technology (BIUST) held an online exchange meeting to discuss the issues of establishing friendly cooperative relations between the two universities, jointly carrying out Chinese language and culture projects, and promoting the exchanges of teachers and students between the two universities. The heads of the International Office, Centre for Business Management, Entrepreneurship and General Education of BIUST, and the heads of the Office of International Cooperation, School of Economics and Management, and College of Humanities and Law of YSU attended the meeting.

On behalf of YSU, Lu Jun, Director of the Office of International Cooperation of YSU, introduced the general situation and cooperation intentions of YSU. Chen Jingpu, Associate Dean of the School of Economics and Management responsible for internationalization, and Cong Xin, Associate Dean of the College of Humanities and Law responsible for internationalization, introduced their superior disciplines and potential cooperation areas, respectively. Patricia Makepe, Director of the Centre for Business Management, Entrepreneurship and General Education of BIUST, introduced the BIUST and the Center. Tsaone Mokgwathi, Director of the Social Science Department of the Center, and Mapeto Bomani, Director the Business Department of the Center, introduced their departments, respectively.

The two parties subsequently conducted detailed discussions and exchanges on the areas of cooperation between the two universities, international Chinese language teacher demands, student exchanges, teacher exchanges, etc., and reached preliminary intentions.

Botswana is a landlocked country in southern Africa, and its capital is Gaborone. It is one of the countries with faster economic development and better economic conditions in Africa. There are 40 higher education institutions in Botswana. Among them, BIUST is the second-ranked public university in the country. BIUST is located in Palapye, a town in the eastern Botswana. It is the only higher education institution that integrates science, technology, engineering, mathematics and other research disciplines in the country. BIUST has obtained strong support from the Botswana Government. The former president of Botswana had served as the president of BIUST. Every year, the graduation ceremony of BIUST is attended by the president or senior government officials of Botswana.
