According to the result released by the 33rd Han Suyin International Translation Contest on October 21, Lin Fang, a postgraduate student of English Translation from class of 2022 at the School of Foreign Studies (SFS), Yanshan University (YSU), won the excellent prize.

This award is meant to be a major breakthrough made by YSU in this high-level international event. It proves that SFS did a good job in the postgraduate program of translation by “promoting learning through competition”, “building a solid foundation and strengthening practice”. Furthermore, this success also fueled the enthusiasm of students, thus being of great significance for promoting the translation major in SFS.
The 33rd Han Suyin International Translation Contest was co-hosted by the Translators Association of China (TAC) and Beijing International Studies University (BISU) and co-organized by the Editorial Office of Chinese Translators Journal and the School of Interpreting and Translation, BISU. The event includes 16 categories, namely translations from Chinese into English, French, Russian, Spanish, Arabic, German, Japanese and Korean, and vice versa. It received 25,698 pieces of valid translation works from a host of participants. After stringent reviews and discussions, 705 participants emerged as winners in the end.
Founded in 1989 by Ms. Han Suyin, a Chinese-born British writer, and the Editorial Office of Chinese Translators Journal, Han Suyin International Translation Contest is the most long-lasting, largest and most influential translation competition in China and widely welcomed and recognized by young translation lovers from across the country and beyond. Its participants include teachers and students from colleges and universities, translation practitioners in state organs, enterprises and social organizations, and freelance translators in this country, as well as translation lovers from other countries and regions.
