[News Center] In order to discover and publicize the advanced student models of Yanshan University (YSU), give full play to the exemplary leading role of the models around us, and encourage all YSU students to study hard and be active and enterprising to become newcomers of the era who take on the responsibility of national rejuvenation through hard work, the 2021 Excellent Students Selection and Commendation Meeting of Yanshan University was held on December 15 in the lecture hall of the University Student Activity Center of the West Campus. Ma Min, Xing Youguang, Zhang Shuo, Yin Ziyue, and Zhang Shiqi (in the order of surname strokes) were awarded the title of “2021 Excellent Students of Yanshan University”; Wang Wenfeng, Chen Si, Jin Feiyu, Guo Kaiyu, and Chang Yukai (in the order of surname strokes) won the nomination award of “2021 Excellent Students of Yanshan University”. Huang Sheng, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Yanshan University Committee, attended the meeting and presented awards to the winning students.

After reviewing and recommending by each school, and checking and preliminary selection by the Office of Student Affairs, a total of 8 undergraduate candidates and 9 postgraduate candidates participated in the selection. The candidates told the judges and the audience their dreams and struggle stories on the site, and interpreted that “struggle is the most beautiful background of youth” with their own experience. Among them, one student has successfully developed China’s first hydrogen battery, which won the National Gold Award in the “Internet+” Competition, the first gold medal in the competition in Hebei Province’s history; one student has published 24 SCI papers and applied 8 invention patents (including authorized patents), which breaks the Japanese monopoly, and helps to build China’s first new hydrogen storage material production line with independent intellectual property rights; one student has obtained score A+ or A in 50 courses, and dedicated his/her talents and enthusiasm to volunteer service; some students uphold humanistic feelings and turn beliefs into power to actively help the poor peasants and devote to rural revitalization... They use their actions to demonstrate the demeanor of university students in the new era, and engrave their footprints in the university construction and development with their struggle.

Xue Chuanjia, Director of the Office of Student Affairs, encouraged all students to stand at the forefront of the times, develop the concept that dreams start from learning and careers are accomplished by skills, and adhere to the university motto of “Honesty, Knowledge, and Seeking Truth”, thus sticking to patriotism and faith while embarking on a new journey; tempering his/her skills and enjoying struggle while reading and comprehending; and being strong and courageous and pursuing excellence while adhering to the academic spirit and improving the comprehensive quality.
The meeting was held in the form of “main venue + live video”. The leaders of the Office of Student Affairs and various schools, some mentors and student representatives participated in the meeting in the main venue.
