YSU Makes Great Strides in National Social Science Fund Key Projects

17 Oct , 2024

The National Office for Philosophy and Social Sciences has recently released the results of the annual project approvals for the 2024 National Social Science Fund of China. The project, titled “Research on the Evolutionary Mechanism and Assurance Strategies of Multi-Subject Symbiosis and Mutual Feedback Behavior in Digital Industry Clustering”, was submitted by Associate Professor Pan Hongliang from YSU School of Economics and Management. It was approved as a key project. This is the second key project approved for our university since the first National Social Science Fund key project was awarded in 2019, marking yet another major breakthrough for our signature humanities and social science research projects.

Release of project approval results and list of approved projects

The National Social Science Fund key projects represent the pinnacle of social science research in the country. They are designed to support pioneering philosophical and social science research that is both original and of significant academic, theoretical and practical value. The competitive and rigorous review process has garnered considerable attention from the academic community for years. In recent years, YSU has placed a premium on the application for National Social Science Fund projects and the associated incubation program. Each year, we conduct a series of targeted meetings, including the launch meeting, promotion meeting, exchange meeting, and incubation program summary meeting. These meetings bring together experts to conduct multiple rounds of review and offer guidance on project application documents, enhancing the quality of submitted projects. Since 2021, YSU has established an incubation program for National Social Science Fund projects, aimed at encouraging our faculty to actively engage in preliminary research and preparation work for projects. After nearly four years of operation, the incubation program has made some headway. Since 2021, YSU has been awarded a total of 50 National Social Science Fund projects. In addition to achieving a significant increase in the number of approved projects, we have expanded the range of project categories and disciplinary fields, while enhancing the quality of our research. This has enabled YSU to contribute to national strategies and local economic and social development.

We will leverage this opportunity to refine the National Social Science Fund project incubation system, enhance the research environment, invigorate research activity, and facilitate the development of more high-level, high-quality research projects, thereby advancing humanities and social sciences programs at YSU.
