The 13th Fluid Power Transmission and Control Conference of China, hosted by the Fluid Transmission and Control Branch of the Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society and undertaken by YSU, took place at our university from October 27 to 30. This marks the second occasion on which YSU has hosted the event, 24 years after the inaugural conference was held at our university in 2000. The conference, themed "Smart Fluid Control: Empowering the Future", showcased the scientific and industrial achievements in the field of fluid power transmission and control in China. The event aimed to facilitate the seamless integration of industries, education, research, and real-world applications, and to chart the course for future development of the academic discipline and the industry, with the objective of promoting the high-quality growth of China's fluid power transmission and control sector.
Leading experts and scholars gathered at YSU for the conference. Attendees included Professor Yang Huayong, member of the Standing Committee of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE), from Zhejiang University; Professor Xiang Changle, an academician of the CAE and Secretary of the CPC Dalian University of Technology Committee; Professor Jiao Zongxia, an academician of the CAE, Director of the Fluid Transmission and Control Branch of the Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society, and professor at Beihang University; Du Xudong, Chairman of the China Hydraulics Pneumatics & Seals Association; Su Zimeng, Chairman of the China Construction Machinery Association; Steffen Haack, CEO of Bosch Rexroth AG; Wang Zhenlin, Secretary of the CPC Committee and Chairman of the Board of the Beijing Research Institute of Automation for Mechanical Industry Co., Ltd. (RIAMB); Zhang Lijie, Secretary of the CPC Hebei Agricultural University Committee and President of the university; Zhao Xianfeng, Secretary of the CPC YSU Committee; Zhao Dingxuan, President of YSU; Wang Dianlong, Vice President of YSU; and Kong Xiangdong, Honorary Director of the Fluid Transmission and Control Branch of the Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society and former Vice President of YSU. Over 1,000 experts and scholars from 105 colleges and universities, 89 enterprises, and research institutions across the country gathered to explore new avenues, ideas, and initiatives for advancing the fluid power transmission and control sector in China.

Zhao Dingxuan presided over the opening ceremony. In his opening remarks, Zhao Xianfeng extended a warm welcome to the leaders, guests, experts, and scholars in attendance. He also expressed sincere gratitude to friends from all sectors who have supported and contributed to the development of YSU over the years. Zhao expressed his hope that the faculty and students of YSU would continue to make significant contributions to the field of fluid power transmission and control for the benefit of the country. In his remarks, Yang Huayong highlighted China's remarkable achievements in scientific research and practical applications within the domain of fluid power transmission and control in recent years. He emphasized the importance of integrating technological innovation with industrial innovation to drive the development of new quality productive forces. In his address, Jiao Zongxia highlighted the key objective of the conference, which is to facilitate the seamless integration of industries, education, research, and real-world applications, fostering meaningful exchanges and collaboration among scholars, entrepreneurs, and engineering professionals. He also expressed his gratitude to the host, YSU, and all the participants. In his speech, Du Xudong recalled the inaugural conference held at YSU in 2000. He noted that over the past 24 years, researchers and professionals in the field of fluid control have built strong friendships and a deep commitment to their industry. These connections, he said, will serve as an inspiration for all to contribute to the country's economic growth. In his remarks, Wang Zhenlin underscored the significance of integrating technological innovation with industrial innovation to develop new quality productive forces, thus revitalizing the industry.

The keynote report session was chaired by Jiao Zongxia and Kong Xiangdong. At the conference, Yang Huayong presented a report titled "Key Technologies and Applications of Digital Hydraulics in Construction Machinery". He introduced the latest research achievements of the research team from the State Key Laboratory of Fluid Power & Mechatronic Systems at Zhejiang University, which focuses on addressing new technological challenges in the construction machinery field through digital hydraulics. Yang also shared his vision for the future development of digital hydraulics technology. Xiang Changle presented a report titled "The Development Status and Key Technologies of Flying Cars", in which he discussed the background and significance of research into flying cars, as well as the current state of research in this field, both at home and abroad. He also touched on the core technologies and key challenges in this field. Jiao Zongxia delivered a report titled "Key Technologies for Efficient and High-Safety Aircraft Braking Systems". He briefly outlined the latest advancements in theoretical research and industrial production for domestically produced large aircraft. Also, Jiao showcased the research achievements of the Beihang University team in areas such as aircraft braking systems using real-world examples and outlined the key research priorities for this field going forward. As a special guest, Steffen Haack presented a report titled "A New Era in Fluid Power Technology Has Started". He shared the latest technological advancements from Bosch Rexroth AG in areas such as industrial ecosystem architecture and digital AI-based product experiences.

The conference featured invited reports from several distinguished experts, including Wang Zhenlin, Chairman of the Board of RIAMB; Professor Yuan Shijian of Harbin Institute of Technology; Professor Liu Chengliang of Shanghai Jiao Tong University; Professor Li Decai of Tsinghua University; YSU Professor Zhao Dingxuan; Professor Wang Shaoping of Beihang University; Professor Xu Bing of Zhejiang University; and Wang Hongxin, Researcher of COMAC Shanghai Aircraft Design & Research Institute.
Additionally, the conference featured a panel discussion on the theme of "How AI Empowers the Future of Fluid Control". The panelists included Yang Huayong, Steffen Haack, Du Xudong, Su Zimeng, Kong Xiangdong, and Cao Donghui. YSU Professor Yao Jing moderated the session. The six panelists shared their insights on intelligent AI technology and the opportunities and challenges it presents for the fluid control industry. The discussion covered current applications and limitations, future development needs, and talent cultivation.

The conference also featured four corporate high-level forums, each with a specific theme: "Fluid Control Technology for Construction Machinery", "Modern Industrial Fluid Control Technology", "Innovation Center for High-Performance Hydraulic Components" and "Aerospace Fluid Control Technology". A total of 32 presentations were delivered by various entrepreneurs and engineering professionals across the forums. Besides, the conference included a “Young Scientists Forum”, during which eight young scholars presented their research findings.

Apart from that, the conference featured eight parallel sessions, each focusing on a specific area of interest. These areas included the engineering applications of fluid control technology, new types of fluid control components, modeling and digital twins, intelligent fluid control, green fluid control technology, reliability and fault diagnosis, sealing friction and lubrication. A total of 96 academic reports were delivered across the various sessions. In addition, a total of 280 academic papers were accepted and 184 posters were on display at the conference. The expert panel also awarded prizes for "Outstanding Papers", "Top Ten Papers", and "Outstanding Posters".
At the closing ceremony, the chairman of the conference presented awards to the authors of the "Outstanding Papers", "Top Ten Papers", and "Outstanding Posters". Additionally, award trophies were presented to representatives of the companies that sponsored the event. YSU Professor Yao Jing, on behalf of the organizing committee of the conference, provided a debriefing of the conference, highlighting the key details and relevant statistics. The 14th Fluid Power Transmission and Control Conference of China is scheduled to take place at Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST) in April 2026. HUST Professor Liu Yinshui, representing the host for the forthcoming conference, introduced the overall planning and preparations for the event. The conference wrapped up with a flag-handover ceremony.
It is worth noting that the following meetings were held during the conference: The 4th Work Meeting of the 7th Committee of the Fluid Transmission and Control Branch of the Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society, the Editorial Board Meeting of the journal "Hydraulics Pneumatics & Seals", and the Editorial Board Meeting of the journal Machine Tools & Hydraulics". Also, a number of companies took part in a targeted recruitment event for professionals in the fluid control sector hosted by YSU. They showcased their products and offered technical advice to attendees.
During the conference, participants also visited several key facilities, including the National Key Laboratory of Lifting Machinery Key Technology, the National Engineering Research Center for Equipment and Technology of C.S.R, the Key Discipline Laboratory of Mechanical Structure and Materials Science under Extreme Conditions, and the Hebei Key Laboratory of Heavy Machinery Fluid Power Transmission and Control.
This conference presented a comprehensive overview of the scientific research and practical advancements achieved in China’s fluid power transmission and control field in recent years. It served as a platform for researchers from universities and research institutes, as well as engineering professionals from enterprises, to exchange ideas and foster collaboration. The event promoted the integration of industries, education, research, and real-world applications, infusing new vitality into the development of China's fluid power transmission and control sector.
