Recently, the China Scholarship Council (CSC) announced the approval results for the 2025 Chinese Government Scholarship (CGS) Short-Term Scientific Exchange Program (China Link). The program jointly submitted by the School of International Education (European Institute) and the School of Mechanical Engineering of YSU has been successfully approved. As stipulated by the program, graduate students from Politecnico di Milano (Polimi) in Italy will conduct scientific research and academic exchanges at the School of Mechanical Engineering of YSU. The CSC will cover full scholarships and living expenses for the students. This is the first time that YSU has been approved for this type of national-level short-term scientific exchange program, marking a breakthrough in its efforts to support China's education opening-up strategy and advance high-quality international cooperative education.
The approved program is based on the discipline of Mechanical Design and Theory, focusing on the theory and technology of green and intelligent manufacturing of advanced metal materials. Through short-term research training, specialized lectures, team exchanges, and on-site visits, the program will provide international students in China with comprehensive research support and immersive cultural experiences, enhancing their research capabilities and intercultural communication skills.
YSU and Polimi have a long-standing partnership, particularly in the field of green manufacturing of high-quality steel materials, where they have achieved fruitful outcomes in international cooperation. The two institutions have jointly undertaken several projects, including the MOST National Key R&D Plan "Inter-governmental International Science & Technology Innovation Cooperation" Key Specialized Program, CSC International Cooperative Training Programs for Innovative Talents, Hebei Overseas Talents Introduction Plan, Hebei Innovation Platform for Foreign Talent Inviting, and the International Exchange Program for Outstanding Scientific and Technological Talent. They have also co-supervised graduate students who won one gold medal (the first-ever for Hebei colleges and universities in the international category), one silver, and one bronze at the China International College Students’ Innovation Competition 2024, as well as the Excellence Award (the highest honor of the competition) at the 18th "Chunhui" Cup Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition for Overseas Chinese Students. The approved program not only marks a milestone in bilateral cooperation, but also lays a solid foundation for future higher-tier and more substantive international scientific and technological collaboration.

The CGS China Link Program is a flagship program established by the CSC to encourage young researchers worldwide to engage in exchanges in China, promote substantive cooperation between Chinese and international colleges and universities, and foster the development of academic networks among young scholars. YSU will take this program as an opportunity to further strengthen cooperation and exchanges with world-class universities and research institutions, continuously advancing the brand development of "Study at YSU". Sustained efforts will be made to explore new pathways for international scientific research collaboration and high-level talent cultivation, thereby injecting new momentum into the university’s "Double First-Class" initiative and promote its high-quality development.
