Academic Report: Charm of Eastern and Western Music

Lecturer: Zuoren Jing

About the Lecturer: Zuoren Jing, a famous music critic and musician, a violist of Central Opera Theater, is also a member of the Chinese Musicians Association, Chinese Music Critics Association, Chinese Opera Research Institute and Chinese Horn Association. What’s more, he is a specialist of the Ministry of Culture and a Distinguished Visiting Professor of Xi’an Conservatory of Music. In the past few decades, he has published hundreds of articles on music criticism, music appreciation and music theories, and many books, including: Universal Music Appreciation, The World Mien Maestro in 20th Century, The Essence of World Violin Masters in 20th Century, College Music, Symphony Appreciation, and Cantor. He is also the Chief Editor of series of books, such as Outstanding Characters and Stories.

As a violist of Central Opera Theater, he has performed with his band in many countries and regions, including: Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, Singapore, America, Egypt, and Syria. He was invited as the comment guest at Macau International Music Festival and Macau International Arts Festival for 10 years in a row. What’s more, he has been specially invited as the commentator for China Central Television, Beijing Television, Central People’s Broadcasting Station, Beijing People’s Broadcasting Station and The National Theater many times.
