Topic: The Status Quo and Future of JM Education

Lecturer: Prof. Changyong Sun

About the lecture: the lecture will review the 20-year history and achievements of JM education, reflect on the general problems and challenges, and think about deepening the educational reform. To promote the quality of JM education at YSU, several aspects will be mentioned, including: program improvement, faculty development, practical teaching improvement, teaching quality improvement, and management enhancement.

About the Lecturer: Prof. Sun is the Director of the Research Center of Procedural Law and Judicial Reform at the Southwest University of Political Science and Law, National second-level Professor, doctoral dissertation supervisor, the leader of National Key Discipline of Procedural Law, Head of National Teaching Team of Criminal Procedure Law, the leader of national "Ten Thousand People Plan" in Philosophy and Social Science, one of the cultural experts recognized by the National Publicity Department, candidate of New Century Talents Project, and one of the 5thNational Ten Outstanding Young Jurists. He is also a member of Academic Degree Commission of the State Council in Law, member of National JM Education Steering Committee, Vice President of China Criminal Procedure Law Research Association, and member of the Standing Committee of China Judicial Theory Research Association and of China Association for Legal Education.

Prof. Sun has hosted and participated in 10 provincial-ministerial level projects, including: National Social Science Fund Project, New Century Excellent Talents Supporting Program by the Ministry of Education, and Key Research Projects of Key Humanitiesand Social Sciences Research Base in China. He published 4 academic monographs (including: Research on Right to Silence System, Investigation Procedures and Human Rights, and Comparative Criminal Procedure ) , and 12 co-authored books. He was editor-in-chief or editor of 6 textbooks. He published 70 academic papers in lawResearch, Chinese law,and other core and professional journals. He won 11 awards, including: Excellent National Doctoral Dissertations Award, second prize of National Teaching Achievement, and first prize of Young and Middle-aged Law Proceedings in China Law Society.
