Speaker Introduction
Nie Xiaoqin, member of the Communist Party of China, Associate researcher, expert advisory committee member of China’s “No Waste City” construction, Ph.D. in environmental engineering at Beijing Institute of Technology (& Tsinghua University), now working at China Urban Construction Research Institute Co., Ltd. Dr. Nie has been engaged in scientific research on the harmless and resource-recycling of urban and rural solid waste. Dr. Nie has presided over or participated in 15 projects including “The Eleventh Five-Year” to “the Thirteen Five-Year” Science and Technology Support, Key Special Projects, Ministries and Beijing Municipalities. Dr. Nie has completed more than 10 domestic garbage disposal projects, publishing more than 20 papers, winning 7 awards, and authorizing 6 invention patents.
“No Waste City” is guided by the new development concept of innovation, coordination, green, openness and sharing. By promoting the formation of green development methods and lifestyles, we will continue to promote the reduction and resource utilization of solid waste sources and minimize landfill. By analyzing the current situation and problems of urban domestic waste generation and treatment, we will promote the construction of “no waste city”, guide the whole society to reduce the generation of solid waste, improve the management level of municipal solid waste, accelerate the solution of long-lost solid waste pollution problems, and continuously improve the quality of urban ecological environment enhances people's livelihood and well-being.
