Speaker Introduction
Dr. Fan Youqing is currently an Assistant Professor at the Business School of the University of Western Sydney in Australia. Before joining the University of Western Sydney in 2015, he worked at the University of Nottingham Ningbo City. His research focuses on the Chinese context and covers a wide range of areas including: human resource management and organizational behavior, employment relations, supply chain management and sustainability, corporate social responsibility, urbanization and immigration, and health management policies. Recently, he began to study the residential isolation problem in the metropolis of Sydney from a humanistic perspective.
Lecture Content
The lecture aims to explore the mechanisms by which collectivist human resource management (CHRM) promotes team creativity and the differences in interpersonal harmony. Using social exchange theory, the study investigated 177 R&D teams in China. The results show that, as expected, CHRM (related to relationships in China) has a positive impact on radical innovation creativity. The Harmony Enhancement section mediates the relationship between CHRM and radical innovation. At the same time, separation avoidance completely mediates the relationship between CHRM and progressive innovation. In addition, the intensity of human resource management regulates the relationship between CHRM and harmony enhancement. The intensity of human resource management regulates the indirect effect of CHRM on radical innovation. This research helps to understand the “black box” between specific cultural human resource management and team outcomes, and provides important insights for human resource managers.
