[News from the News Center] From 8:30 to 18:00 on Nov. 26, the inspection team of Asian Development Bank (ADB) went to YSU and conducted field inspection of the YSU sub-project of Hebei Elderly Care Development Project, and held a meeting at the first reception room on the 21stfloor of the Century Building. The inspection team consists of 11 members including: Bai Jie, ADB project Manager, Dindy, project Assistant, Zhu Yanbin, Deputy Director of Hebei project office, Long Wenyan, Associate Researcher, Zhang Zhongyang, senior staff member, and other ADB consultants from various fields. Zhao Yongsheng, YSU Vice President, attended the meeting as well as leaders and staff of the School of Continuing Education, Financial Office, Logistics Group, Office of Laboratory and Asset Management, Institute of Science and Technology Research, the Personnel Department, and International Cooperation Department. Zhu Yanbin, Deputy Director of the Hebei project office, presided over the meeting.

Zhao Yongsheng gave a welcome speech and expressed warm welcome to the ADB inspection team on behalf of YSU. He points out that the aging of population in China is accelerating, and the seriousness and necessity of elderly care are increasingly significant. Under such severe social situation, Hebei Elderly Care Development Project, as China’s first foreign-funded elderly care project, carries a major social and historical responsibility. From the day of participation to the project, YSU actively promoted the full implementation, and issued the “Decision on Establishing the Leading Group and Management Center of YSU Health and Training Center” in order to gather the resources of the whole university and coordinate offices and departments to contribute to the project construction. YSU is confident to live up to the high expectations of ADB and the Hebei government, well complete the project, and contribute to the elderlycare in China.

Bai Jie introduced the purpose and significance of the inspection and said that they would like to listen to YSU’s report on the preliminary development of the project, and to communicate and negotiate on the next step.

Sun Li, Dean of the School of Continuing Education, made a report and introduced in detail the actual implementation and the preparation of the capacity building plan, strategic planning, and specific activitiesof YSU subproject. Afterwards, the participants conducted a seminar for some detailed consultations and exchanges on the contents involved in the inspection. During the period, the participants also paid a field visit to the YSU Health and Training Center.
Bai Jie made a speech on behalf of ADB at the conclusion meeting. She affired the preliminary work of the YSU subproject from top-level design, civil construction contract, capacity building, curriculum design, etc., and also proposesconstructive comment for future work. Zhu Yanbin made a concluding speech on behalf of the Hebei project office. He believed that during the visit, which was fruitful, he could feel that YSU attached great importance to and carefully prepared for the inspection. The ADB inspection is carried out in a combination of field inspection and centralized office, and YSU is the only one place where they conducts field inspection, which fully reflects the special attention of the ADB and Hebei project office to YSU. ADB, Hebei project office and YSU have goodface-to-face communication, and the problems in the project promotion have been effectively solved. This inspectionis successful and efficient, reaching the expected goals of the ADB inspection team and the Hebei project office.Zhao Yongsheng makes a concluding speech on behalf of YSU. He expresses sincere gratitude to the leaders and experts of the inspection team for their hard work. Zhao also says that thisinspectionclearly indicates the direction for further development and points outthe problems that currently exist. The elderly care is related to the national economy and the people’s livelihood and the health and training project is a work that is of great significance to the country, the society, and the school.
