[News from the News Center] From December 1-2, hosted byChinese Association of Automation(CAA), Xi’an Jiaotong University organized the 2018 China Automation Conference – Automation Creation Smart Society Conference held in Xi’an, Shaanxi. Dr. You Xiu from YSU School of Electrical Engineering, Department of Automation, Control Science and Engineering, won the 2018 CAA Outstanding Doctoral Dissertation Nomination Award for the outstanding research. Dr. You’s supervisor Prof. Hua Changchun, won the Outstanding Doctoral Mentor Award. This is the first time that YSU has won this award since the CAA established the award in 2014.

Yu Xiu’s doctoral thesis titled “Distributed Consistency Control for an Unmatched Multi-Agent Systems”. The thesis includes several main innovations, and these research results were published by some SCI index International Journals such as Automatica, IEEE Transactions on Cybernetics, andIEEE Transactions on Automatic control, and received the attention of international peers, which were cited 28 times.
The CAA set up “Outstanding Doctoral Dissertation Award” to promote scientific and technological progress in China’s automation field, encourage innovative research, and promote the growth of young talents. This award is selected once a year, no more than 10 dissertations are selected, and no more than 5 are nominated for the award. The major universities that won the CAA Outstanding Doctoral Dissertation Award in 2018 include: Harbin Institute of Technology, Institute of Automation, Chinese Academy of Sciences, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Northeastern University, Zhejiang University, Shandong University (2 dissertations), Beihang University, Tsinghua University, Chongqing University. 5 universities that won the CAA Outstanding Doctoral Dissertation Nomination Award in 2018 include: Tsinghua University, Institute of Automation, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Zhejiang University, Yanshan University, Hunan University.
