YSU holds 2019 New Year tea party for retired faculty

[News from the News Center] On the afternoon, Dec. 26, YSU holds 2019 New Year tea party for retired faculty at the Teachers Center. Meng Weidong, YSU Party Secretary, Liu Hongmin, YSU President, and Wang Baocheng, member of the YSU standing committee of CPC, attended the party as well as more than 100 retired leaders and teachers. The party was presided over by Li Wenbo, Director of Retirement Affairs Office.

Liu Hongmin reviewed the work of YSU.

Liu Hongmin extended festive greetings and best wishes to all the retired, expressed gratitude for their support for the university work, and introduced YSU’s development, and the difficulties and challenges. Liu pointed out that the year 2018 has seen YSU’s endeavor and reform. In the past year, YSU has made achievements in exploration and innovation, and in pursuing high-quality development under the guidelines of the spirits from the 19thNCCPC and the National Education Conference with the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era.Next, YSU will focus on promoting the reform of the management of overall university and school, the reform of the personnel distribution system, and the optimization and adjustment of the disciplines. Besides, YSU will conduct research in new fields and new directions, and steadily promote major infrastructure projectsincluding the new library, comprehensive training center, and the health and training project. Meanwhile, YSU still faces many difficulties and challenges in school-running funds, and it also needs to be strengthened capabilitiesin serving the country and local economic and social development. In the future, while welcoming and overcoming other challenges and difficulties, YSU will strive to make greater achievements. It is hoped that the retired faculty will continue to care for and support the development of YSU.

MengWeidong conveyed to everyone the main spirits of the provincial education conference, and he pointed out that YSU’s development is facing both opportunities and challenges, but more opportunities than challenges. Meng also emphasized that YSU will always maintain the spirits of carrying forward the burden and pursuing excellence, and firmly grasp the new development opportunities in order to build YSU into a “Double First-class” university. Finally, MengWeidong, on behalf of YSU committee of CPC, thanked the retired faculty for their contributions to the development of YSU, and extended the greetings and blessings to them, wishing them good health and good luck.

The Tea Party began with the poetry recitation “Changsha -- to the melody ShenYuan Chun” written by Chairman Mao Zedong. The party included chorus, dances, waltz performances and other programs, sending the blessings of the old comrades and showing their elegance. After the party, the Retirement Affairs Office also arranged circling, darts, frog diving and other recreational activities for the retired faculty. They actively participated and enjoyed them.
