[News from the News Center] On the morning of January 7, the founding conference of the School of Artificial Intelligence and Robotics was held in the lecture hall on the 18th floor of the Century Building. Liu Wenping, Member of the Standing Committee of the CPC QHD Municipal Committee, Minister of the Organizational Department of the CPC QHD Municipal Committee and the United Front Work Department of the CPC QHD Municipal committee,Secretary of the CPC YSU Committee, President Liu Hongmin, vice President Kong Xiangdong and Zhao Yongsheng ,vice President and Dean of the School ofArtificial Intelligence and Robotics attended the conference. Liu Hongmin introduced the overall situation of the newly established teaching and research institutions – the School of Artificial Intelligence and Robotics and research institutes from the existing characteristics and foundations, development opportunities and expectations. President Liu stressed that in the face of opportunities brought about by new technologies, new industries, new economies, our university should adapt to new situations and requirements to develop new disciplines and majors to meet the needs of our city and country. It is believed that the establishment of new school and research institutes will play an important role in promoting the construction of the “Double-class” universities and the innovation and development of Qinhuangdao City.
On behalf of the QHD Municipal Party Committee and the Government, Liu Wenping expressed warm congratulations on the establishment of the new school and research institute of Yanshan University. She pointed out that QHD City strongly supports the “Double First-class” construction of YSU, and YSU also takes the responsibility of contributing to the development of our city. Both the YSU and the QHD government hoped that the establishment of the new school can engage in the development of the university and our city.
Meng Weidong pointed out that the newly established school and research institutesarethe implementation of national strategy. The establishment of the new school and research institutes will make use of university resources and contribute to the development of our city. He hoped that all YSU departments could cooperate with the new teaching and research institutions, integrate resources, and develop new disciplines of interdisciplinary subjects. He hopes that the newly established schools and research institutes will be able to seize the opportunities to serve local economic and social development.

Kong Xiangdong made a concluding speech. He pointed out that the conference successfully completed the relevant agenda, marking the official start of construction and operation of the four teaching and research platforms of our university. He pointed out that our country has been committing to the development of science and technology and our city has entered an important stage of coordinated development. Our university has also entered a critical period of “Double-first Class” university construction. Innovation and development have brought us opportunities, and we YSU staff and students should work together to achieve the goal of the construction of “Double-first Class” university.
