[News from the News Center]In order to further strengthen the patriotic education and practice the core values of socialism, the YSU National Flag Guard recently went to Tiananmen Square to watch the flag-raising ceremony and carry out the theme education activities.
At 11pm, in the middle of the night, members of the Flag Guard arrived at the Beijing Railway Station. The whole team walked to Tiananmen Square. The team members were excited to wait for the flag-raising ceremony to be held in the waiting area. At 4:55am, the members of the Flag Guard team dressed in uniform orderly entered the Tiananmen Square viewing platform to welcome the beginning of the flag-raising ceremony. At 5:40am, the flag-raisers of the Combined Honor Guard of the People’sLiberation Armytook a powerful step to guard the bright national flag for a solemn flag-raising ceremony. Along with the music of the “March of the Volunteers”, the members of the Flag Guards all paid attention to the national flag; accompanied by the national flag slowly rising, the players sang the national anthem and paid tribute to the motherland.

The YSU Flag Guard is a subordinate organization under the guidance of Youth League Committee. It is currently the 25thyear since its establishment in 1997. In the past academic year, the average annual training time was 650 hours each year. The team carried out more than 270 times of flag-raising tasks, and cooperated with the city and the school to perform the flag-raising task more than 20 times. They cherished their dream and won the applause finally. They were strict with themselves in training and have demonstrated their hard work with actions. They have brought their vigor and enthusiasm to our university.

The ceremony watching was one of the patriotic education of university’s Communist Youth League for young students. The Flag Guard paid tribute to the 99th anniversary of Yanshan University and the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China.
