YSU joins the Belt and Road Aerospace Innovation Alliance

[News from the News Center] On the evening of October 22, 2020, the council meeting of the “Belt and Road” Aerospace Innovation Alliance (BARAIA) was held online. The relevant personnel from the Office of International Cooperation and the Institute of Science and Technology, on behalf of our university, attended the meeting in Room 1010 of the Century Building.

The council meeting was jointly hosted by the Northwestern Polytechnical University (NPU), China and National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST), Pakistan, and over 130 representatives from 61 universities, enterprises, research institutes and international organizations of 19 countries participated in the conference. Our university attended the conference as a member university applying for the membership in the alliance.

 

Following the introduction of participants and their affiliations and the welcome speeches delivered by the representatives of the alliance sponsor unit and the secretariat, some important meeting agendas, the application for new membership of the Alliance, the announcement of the voting results and the oath of admission, were processed. Lu Jun, Director of the Office of International Cooperation, made an oral examination on behalf of our university, and the application was approved and announced to be BRAIA member in the conference. YSU has become a full member of the Alliance since October 2020. Lu Jun spoke on behalf of our university and made the oath of membership. During the meeting, joint research cooperation projects were approved, and BRAIA annual work report and future work plan were presented.

 

BARAIA brings together renowned universities of many countries. Joining the BARAIA will change the way of communications between member universities, which enables our university to promote cooperation with multiple universities in scientific research and the exchange of teaching staff and students between universities.

 

BRAIA was jointly initiated by Northwestern Polytechnical University and Chinese Society of Astronautics. BRAIA is an international organization formed by universities, research institutes, academic organizations and enterprises mainly in the field of aerospace. Its mission is to enhance the international cooperation on aerospace technology and application. Its focus is to promote the substantial cooperation among BRAIA members in talent cultivation, scientific research, technology development and applications. Its domestic member universities include Tsinghua University, Beihang University, and Harbin Institute of Technology among others.
