Discipline Development and Research Achievements
EE has three PhD programs, three Post-doctoral programs, three MA programs, three MA Engineering programs, three undergraduate programs. EE’s research and educational programs advance the frontiers of knowledge and expand the limit of the possible. EE has one national-level specialty, one key National Defense discipline, one national-level Experimental Demonstrative Center, one provincial pioneering discipline, three provincial key disciplines among others.
EE has undertaken about 300 projects including 41 National Natural Science Foundation projects, two national-level Key Projects, one National Natural Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, 47 provincial Natural Science Foundation projects, and two provincial Natural Science Foundation projects. EE has published 1130 academic papers, of which 500 are SCI-indexed papers. EE teachers are awarded one second prizes of National Natural Science Award, one first prize of provincial and ministerial award, two second prizes and five third prizes of provincial and ministerial awards.
EE aims to combine the rigor of science, the power of engineering, and the excitement of discovery. EE faculty and students are ready to learn, ready to conduct research and ready to solve the world’s problems. Students’ practical ability and innovation and entrepreneurship thinking are greatly improved in the systematic training activities. In 2016, EE set up a students’ entrepreneurship studio, covering an area of more than 300m2 with assets of more than one hundred thousand RMB. EE hatches 30 entrepreneurship groups, which are supported by a series of innovation and entrepreneurship training courses and symposium on “Smart cars”, “Electronic Design”, “Mathematical Modeling”, and “An Introduction to Entrepreneurship” as well as some experiment courses such as “Single Chip Microcomputer”, “PLC”, and various science and technology competitions.
In the last three years, EE students have been awarded prizes in a variety of competitions, about 40 students are granted with national-level awards including 15 national first prizes, and over 160 provincial awards.
