1. Research Project

In 2016-2019, the university has invested 1.89 billion RMB in scientific research, and undertaken over 1300 scientific research projects, among them there are about 1000 projects at the provincial and ministerial level including 8 state-level key R &D projects, of which Prof. Zhao Dingxuan, the PI of the state-level key R & D project “The Research of Key Technology and Application of High Mobility and Multi-function Emergency Rescue Vehicles” was funded 200 million RMB. Academician Tian Yongjun is the PI of the state-level key R & D project “Key Scientific Issues of Transformative Technology” and some other projects including the “Marine Environmental Security”, the “Inter-governmental International Scientific and Technological Innovation Cooperation”, and the “Manufacturing Basic Technology and Key Components”. The institute was granted 244 National Natural Science Foundation.

2. Research Platform

YSU has established the State Key Laboratory of Meta-stable Materials Science and Technology, the National Engineering Research Center for Equipment and Technology of C.S.R., the National & Local Joint Engineering Research Center for Advanced Manufacture Forming Technology and Equipment, the Demonstrative Center of National Innovation Talent Cultivation, the Base of International Technology Cooperation, the MOE Engineering Research Center of Intelligent Control System and Intelligent Equipment, the Provincial & Ministry Collaborative Innovation Center, the National Demonstrating Institute of Technology Application, 3 Provincial Collaborative Innovation Center, and 43 provincial and ministerial key laboratories and engineering technology research centers. The university has established 3 research centers — the High-pressure Science, the Nano Clean Energy, and the Special Carriage Equipment centers; 3 research institutes — the institutes of Artificial Intelligence and Robotics, Marine Science and Engineering, and Research Institute of Health Care Industry Technology.

3. Research Achievement

During 2016-2019, the university was granted 3 National Science and Technology Awards including 2 second prizes of National Award for Technological Invention and 1 second prize of National Natural Science Award, 47 provincial and ministerial science and technology awards, including 8 first prizes of Science and Technology of Hebei Province, 2 awards for Outstanding Contribution in Science and Technology of Hebei Province. Prof. Tian Yongjun was granted 2018Tan Kah Kee Science Awards for his project “Synthesis Artificial Materials Harder than Natural Diamond”. CITIC Research Institute has published 7435 retrieval SCI papers by our university, 1095 papers are selected in the list of highly cited papers of ESI, and 104 quality works.

4. Intellectual Property

Up to now, the university has more than 7000 patents, including over 5000 invention patents and more than 2000 utility model patents; the university has 5000 the authorized patents, including more than 10 international patents, 3000 national invention patents, 2000 utility model patents, and 500 software copyright registrations.

Academic Committee of YSU

YSU Academic Committee (AC) is the academic organization consisting of professors and experts in different fields. It exercises the powers of decision-making, deliberation, evaluation and consultation in academic affairs. The Secretariat of the AC is affiliated to IST.
