40 Pakistani students supported by government scholarships learn at YSU

【News from News Center】To implementand promote education activities issued by the Ministry of Education of PRC andthe Education Department ofHebei Province for the Pakistan-China joint construction of“the Belt and Road Initiative”, YSU welcomed 40 Pakistani students supported by government scholarships and held a grandopening ceremonyon Oct.18th.Mr. Navid, Second Secretary of the Embassy of PakistantoChina in charge of education affairs, Ms.Qingping Chen, a former staff member of the Embassy of the PRC in Pakistan, Mr.Weidong Meng, Secretary of YSU Party Committee, Mr. Fucheng Zhang, YSU Vice President, and related directors from YSUInternational Cooperation Division and College of International Education, as well asthePakistani students, attended the ceremony.

In his speech,Mr. Weidong Meng, Secretary of YSU Party Committee,extended his hearty welcome to all Pakistani students and stated that the friendship between Pakistan and China hasbeen developinglike a flourishing tree.Regardless of changes of international, regional and domestic situations,Pakistan-Chinarelationshiphas been developing in a healthy and stable manner. The two countries have always respected and supported each other over their core interests. In Pakistan, people praise the friendship between China and Pakistan with the poetic language of "higher than the mountains, deeper than the sea, sweeter than honey." In China, Pakistan is consideredthesincere and reliable friend.Pakistan-China friendship is deeply rooted in the hearts of the two peoples. He expressed his hope that students successfully finish their studies in China and that they connect China and Pakistan like the rainbow after they return.

Mr. Naviddeliveredhis satisfaction with the thoughtful arrangementby YSUandhis wishesto cooperate withYSUin more areas. Meanwhile, he expressed his high hopes on the students who participate in the training and longed for their early return with academic success to contribute toPakistan-Chinafriendship.

The training course is two years. Students mainly learn Chinese and related courses to enhance the communicative competence.Students will acquirethe basic ability to speak, listen, write and readinChinese,andto communicate with otherssmoothly; have an understandingofChinesecultural background and Chinese culture;carry onintercultural communication, and apply Chinese in their work.

To strengthen political, economic and cultural communicationbetween Pakistan and China, Pakistani government actively responded to “the Belt and Road Initiative”. In 2016, Pakistan launched the language program for state-sponsored scholars and sent excellent graduates to learn Chinese by different batches.
