YSU Officially Becomes a Member of the BRICS Universities League

Recently, YSU received the membership certificate from the Secretariat of BRICS Universities League, and officially became a member of the league.

YSU started its preparation for the application for membership at the beginning of 2021, was invited to attend the 2021 online meeting of the BRICS Universities League in December, and made a defense for membership in the meeting. Harbin Engineering University, Jiangsu Normal University and Yunnan University also applied for membership in the same period.

In the process of building a world-famous university, YSU always attaches importance to exchanges and cooperation with BRICS universities and institutions. In March 2022, YSU established a friendly and cooperative relationship with Federal University of Vicosa, Brazil, the first cooperation university and college in Brazil. In addition, YSU has maintained close cooperative relations with Russian universities and scientific research institutions such as Altai State Technical University, Moscow State University, Moscow City Pedagogical University, Moscow Polytechnic University and Peter the Great Saint-Petersburg Polytechnic University, and carried out extensive exchanges and cooperation with them in the fields of teacher-student exchanges, joint training of students, joint scientific research and negotiation on the transformation of S&T achievements. In the future, relying on league resources, YSU will continue to promote cooperation and exchanges with well-known universities and scientific research institutions in BRICS countries, enhance its international influence and actively serve the national strategy.

On October 18, 2015, the BRICS Universities League is formally established in Beijing according to Article 63 of the VII BRICS Summit Ufa Declaration "The Initiative to Support the Establishment of the BRICS Universities League". Guided by the education authorities of BRICS countries such as the Ministry of Education of China and the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia, it aims to unite the major famous universities in BRICS countries, carry out the joint research and jointly train high-end talents. It is a platform for bilateral and multilateral exchanges between universities in BRICS countries and also an important mechanism for promoting higher education cooperation and cultural exchanges in BRICS countries.

At present, 28 universities of China, including Tsinghua University, Fudan University, Beijing Language and Culture University, Harbin Institute of Technology, Lanzhou University and Yanshan University, have become the members of the league.
