Yanshan University Makes New Achievements in the 2023 List of National Competitions for General College and University Students

On March 22, 2024, the Working Group on Research of College and University Competition Evaluation and Management System of China Association of Higher Education (CAHE) released the 2023 List of National Competitions for General College and University Students. Yanshan University ranks 21st in the 2023 List of National Competitions for General College and University Students (Undergraduate, Top 100) with 768 awards and 83.37 points; 35th in the 2019-2023 List of National Competitions for General College and University Students (Undergraduate, Top 300) with 1,918 awards and 80.34 points; and 45th in the Overall List for 8 Rounds of National Competitions for General College and University Students (Undergraduate, Top 300) with 2,116 awards and 78.02 points. For the above 3 lists, Yanshan University ranks first among colleges and universities in Hebei Province and ranks among the top colleges and universities of the same level in China.

Competition lists and overall list

Innovation and entrepreneurship competitions constitute an important part of innovation and entrepreneurship education of college and university students and a crucial media for cultivating their awareness and capability of innovation and entrepreneurship. The List of National Competitions for General College and University Students released by CAHE is currently the most influential evaluation system of competitions for college and university students in China, and is an important standard for testing the quality of talent cultivation of colleges and universities. The 2023 List comprehensively examined the overall awards won by colleges and universities in 84 highest-level and most influential innovation and entrepreneurship competitions for college and university students in China, with a total of 1,218 colleges and universities with undergraduate studies nationwide participating in the ranking. In 2023, the Center of Innovation and Entrepreneurship Education continued to optimize the organization and logistic system for the competitions, provided key support for the schools to participate in the first-class competitions, coordinated funds to fully support students to participate in the first-class competitions at the provincial and national levels, kept track of 17 new competitions, recorded 10 micro-lectures for the first-class innovation and entrepreneurship competitions, and compiled and published 15 casebooks of first-class innovation and entrepreneurship competitions. The coverage of the competitions and the benefits for the students further expanded. A total of 358 undergraduate students earned bonus points for recommended exemption graduate enrollment by participating in the first-class innovation and entrepreneurship competitions.

Yanshan University attaches great importance to the leading role of the first-class innovation and entrepreneurship competitions in innovation and entrepreneurship education. The remarkable achievements indicate that Yanshan University remains competitive among the leading colleges and universities in China in high-level innovation and entrepreneurship competitions, and reflect the university’s continuous improvement of its ability to cultivate innovative and entrepreneurial talents.
