National Engineering Research Center for Equipment and Technology of C.S.R.
The National Engineering Research Center for Equipment and Technology of C.S.R. affiliating to Yanshan University was established in January 2011 with the approval of the Ministry of Science and Technology of China. With years of unremitting endeavor, the center has developed distinctive features and advantages, the center, guided by the national iron and steel and non-ferrous metal industrial policies and market needs, focuses on the application research and application development, and carry out scientific research innovation and industrialization of plate and belt production equipment technology and product quality in order to build a complete closed science and technology industrial chain of “basic research-technology development-technology application-industrialization-high-level basic research”. The center aims to build a first-class research and development platform for advanced equipment technology of strip production, the first-class information and exchange platform for advanced equipment technology of strip production, and the first-class training base for advanced equipment and technology in plate and strip production, which will develop into a common technical service platform with pioneering scientific and technological innovation to support the rapid and sustainable development of China's iron and steel and non-ferrous metal industry.
In December 2013, the “Collaborative Innovation Center of Modern Rolling Technology and Advanced Steel Materials” based on the center was selected in the first batch of provincial collaborative innovation “2011 Plan”; in March 2016, the “Science and Technology Service Industry Pilot Institute of Advanced High-strength Steel Strip Industry” was selected into the second batch of the Ministry of Science and Technology Pilot Program.
The center has 65 researchers, including 50 R&D personnel (49 with senior academic titles), 10 technicians, five management personnel. There is one chief expert of 863 Program, one Distinguished Young Scientists awarded by the National Science Foundation, one Excellent Young Scholars awarded by the National Science Fund, one Young and Middle-aged Leading Talents in Scientific and Technological Innovation awarded by the Ministry of Science and Technology of China, four selected in State-level New Century Hundred-Thousand-Ten Thousand Talents program, one “State-level Scholars with Outstanding Contributions”, and three selected in the Ministry of Education New Century Talents Scheme. In recent years, the center is defined by our singular strengths and collaborative synergies of center’s researchers and 11 talents introduced from the Institute of Metal Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Northeastern University, Tsinghua University, and the Central Iron and Steel Research Institute, and two overseas talents from Technische Universität Dortmund of Germany among others.
The center has about 9000m2 of pilot workshops, laboratories, analysis rooms, research rooms and industrial bases, with a total investment of 30.15 million RMB. The pilot plant is about 1400m2 with 24 meters span area, and the auxiliary room area is about 400m2. On the basis of the original value of the central equipment assets of 25 million RMB, the center purchased more than 200 sets of instruments and equipment worth more than 40 million RMB, which forms four scientific research platforms: Plot Platform, Physical Simulation Test Platform, Super Computing Center of Heavy Machinery Intelligent Manufacturing Engineering, and Basic Research Base of Quantitative Structure Characterization and Material Properties.
In recent years, the center has focused on fulfilling national demands, developing science and technology service industry through collaborative innovation in order to maintain excellence and promote the applications of research achievements, lead the development trend in the field, and produce numerous outstanding achievements, such as 10 internationally advanced and domestically leading scientific research achievements, 6 internationally leading technology achievements. The center has developed and integrated 24 advanced key technologies and equipment, 110 invention patents, 17 utility model patent, 86 computer software copyright, 1 second prize of National Science and Technology Awards, 19 provincial and ministerial science and technology awards, undertaking 58 national-level research projects, 90 provincial and ministerial projects, and 261 projects entrusted by domestic enterprises and institutions.
The center hatches an “Engineering Research Center of Rolling Equipment Complete Set Technology” with ownership by the whole people. Its business involves the complete rolling equipment’s R&D, manufacturing, and sales, mechanical and electrical integration products, automation engineering of metallurgical equipment, computer engineering software, network engineering, the instrumentation’s development, design, manufacturing, and sales as well as the design, manufacturing, and sales of environmental protection equipment.
