Overview

The YSU School of Humanities and Law (SHL)as a departmentgrew out of the School of Heavy Machinery of Harbin Institute of Technology. In 2001, it relocated to Qinhuangdao, in 2001, the school took on its current name with thedevelopmentwhich saw the merger of the Department of Social Science and the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, which in turn resulted in the school taking its current name. In 2013, the School of Public Administration was established, which has resulted in the development of a collaborative relationship with the SHL.

TheSHL comprises seven departments including the Law Department, the Department of Political Science, the Department of Literature and Journalism, the Department of International Relations, the Department of Public Administration, the Department of Administration Management, and the Department of Philosophy, as well as a MPA Educational Center. TheSHL offers seven undergraduate programs in Law, Political Science and Administration, Chinese Language and Literature, International Politics, Public Administration, Science of Radio & Television, and Administration Management (national first-level specialty), one doctoral program in Public Administration, four first-level master’s degree programs in Public Administration, Philosophy, Political Science, and Chinese Language and Literature; one second-level master’s degree programs in Procedural Law; and three professional degree programs in Public Administration (MPA), Juris Master (JM), and Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages (MTCSOL).
