[News from News Center] On July 5thand 6th, Annual Conference of Learning Sciences under China Association of Higher Education, namely the 9th Member Conference was held in Qinhuangdao, Hebei Province, including general election and academic discussion. YSU President Hongmin Liu was elected Director of the association; Chunjiang Zhang, Director of Periodical Press of YSU, was elected Deputy Director of 9thAcademic Committee; Xingguo Li, Deputy Director of YSU Higher Education Development Research Center, was elected Deputy Secretary General of the 9thassociation.
Sponsored by Learning Sciences Branch under China Association of Higher Education, this conference was hosted by YSU. Director of Science and Technology Development Center under the Ministry of Education Zhimin Li, Qing Zhou from Secretariat of China Association of Higher Education, Director of Learning Sciences Teaching Advisory Sub-committee under Ministry of Education and former President of National University Learning Sciences Research Association Guangsheng Guo, the Director of 8thcouncil under Learning Sciences Research Branch Shusheng Wei, YSU President Hongmin Liu, and YSU Vice President Sheng Huang attended the conference. 70 representatives from nearly 50 universities and scientific research institutions all around the country participated in the conference hosted by the 8thExecutive Deputy Director and Secretary General Chunyan Gong,.

At the opening ceremony, Sheng Huang addressed salutary oration on behalf of YSU; Guangsheng Huo summarized the work on behalf of Learning Sciences Branch; Shusheng Wei made a report on behalf of the 8thcouncil under Learning Sciences Research Branch; Qingzhou read the approval documents for the Request of General Election of Learning Sciences Branch.

Zhiming Li indicated that it has been given high attention how to learn scientifically and high-efficiently in the field of education. Under the new historical background, the research of learning sciences will face unprecedented opportunities and also new challenges. He hoped that the Learning Sciences Branch can continue to exert itself, deeply carry out research and practice of learning sciences to go with the needs of education reform and development, support high-quality talents training with high-level science and technology innovation, and promote the healthy, scientific, and harmonious development of education.
The general election was held. Introduced by Chunyan Gong, the candidates for Director, Secretary General, Deputy Directors, Executive members, and members of the 9thcouncil were reviewed and approved at the conference. YSU President Hongmin Liu was elected the Director of the 9thcouncil. Jia Liu, Director of Division of Psychology, Beijing Normal University was elected Secretary General. The Secretariat is subordinate to Beijing Normal University. Meanwhile, Xingguo Li, Deputy Director of YSU Higher Education Development Research Center, was elected Deputy Secretary General of the 9thassociation; and Chunjiang Zhang, Director of YSU Periodical Press, was elected Deputy Director of 9thAcademic Committee.

On behalf of the new council, Hongmin Liu addressed the conference. He reviewed the development of the association in the past 30 years and confirmed the outstanding and effective work of the association in the aspects of theory research, academic exchange, professional training, and education consultation. Then, he put forward 5 suggestions: strengthen theory research; perfect research methods after widely learning; improve consulting level by applying the knowledge; carry out abundant academic exchange by establishing platforms; make great efforts for self-development in people-oriented spirit.
In the academic discussion, Prof. Baohui Zhang from Shaanxi Normal University and Prof. Jia Liu from Beijing Normal University made academic reports entitledDiscussion on the Historical Missions of China’s Learning Sciences andLearning Sciences Based on Brain Sciencerespectively. Members present at the conference had in-depth discussions.
YSU Higher Education Development Research Center undertook the preparations of the conference with President Office, Periodical Press, and Publicity Office, which guarantees the success of the conference.
