[News from News Center] From Sep. 28thto 30th, the 46thYSU Games was held. During two-and-a-half-day competition, 1063 athletes from 31 schools and offices competed in 3 groups of 27 events and fun games. Besides Shot Put, Javelin and Discus on Sep. 24th, the other events were held on 29thand 30th.

At 17:30, Sep. 28th, the opening ceremony, the first one ever held in the evening, was hosted by YSU Labor Union President Tiewei Hu at the Second Stadium. YSU President Hongmin Liu declared the opening of the 46thYSU Games. Vice President Yongsheng Zhao addressed the ceremony. He said that the 46thYSU Games was held before the National Day, Mid-autumn Day and the 19thNational Congress of the CPC. In the past year, YSU obtained outstanding results in various competition events. The physical activities need everyone to be involved. All students are expected to positively join in all physical activities and competition. The charm of sports competition lies in its challenge and pursuit of equality. YSU calls for everyone to integrate the sport spirit of “Go Beyond Yourself” into daily life.

Themed byYouth, Health and Environmental Protection, the opening ceremony performance, prepared for a year by over 1700 teachers and students, arranged 11 programs including “Martial Arts Show”, “Green YSU”, “Yanming Lakeside”, “Blossom”, “Sky”, “Figure Rope Skipping”, “Jasmine Flower”, “Strength & Beauty”, “Power Dance”, “The Time for Yanshan University” and “A Better Tomorrow”. “Martial Arts” showed long-standing and well-established, extensive and profound Chinese Wushu, and “Green YSU” brought rhythm. Yoga show “Yanming Lakeside” displayed the elegance of sports. Performance “Blossom” from dance majors showed the vitality of youth. “Figure Rope Skipping” and “Power Dance” from cheering teams inspired athletes.

After the opening ceremony, Hongmin Liu fired the first shot for the Games and 4 groups of men started the laser run. The competition events “4×400 Men and Women Medley Relay”, “Laser Run” and “Belt and Road” were first added in this Games.

Deputy Director Jia Chan hosted the closing ceremony on Sep. 30th. Chief Referee Dapeng Wang announced the results. School of Mechanical Engineering ranked first in student group and second in faculty group. And Liren College ranked first in faculty group and second in student group. Fengqian Wu, leader of Sportsmanship Rating Group, announced the results of Sportsmanship Awards. School of Information Science and Engineering, School of Mechanical Engineering, School of Electrical Engineering, School of Humanities and Law, School of Economics and Management, and School of Arts and Design won student Sportsmanship Awards. And Logistics Group, Library, School of Information Science and Engineering, School of Electrical Engineering, administrations and Liren College won faculty Sportsmanship Awards. YSU leaders awarded trophies and medals to award-winning units.
