[News from the News Center] At 14:30, May 16, YSU 2019 Conference on Student Affairs and Communist Youth League was held at Room 109, Student Center, East Campus. Many leaders attended the conference, including Zhao Xianfeng, YSU Party Secretary, XieYan’an, YSU Vice President, Zhao Yongsheng, YSU Vice President, Wang Baocheng, member of YSU Party Committee, and Huang Sheng, YSU Vice President, as well as other leaders from YSU Department of Student Affairs under YSU Party Committee, YSU Committee of the Communist Youth League, each School, and representatives of counsellors and students. The conference was presided over by Zhang Mingli, Director of Department of Student Affairs under YSU Party Committee.

Zhao Xianfeng delivered a speech at the conference. Zhao noted that although YSU had encountered many difficulties and hardships in its development, it had always been continuously moving forward; besides, the leaders of YSU student affairs and Communist Youth League had been of high quality in their work and the students had been always having a clear and positive thought and forging ahead. He stressed that we should conscientiously study and implement the spirits of the important speech delivered by General Secretary Xi Jinping at the ceremony to mark the centenary of the May Fourth Movement, focus on educating people, and deepen the reform of education. Thus we should do a good job in the growth of young people in the new era, and strive to nurture a new generation of young people who have a good and all-round moral, intellectual, physical, and aesthetical grounding in addition to a hardworking spirit, and who are well-prepared to join the socialist cause. First, we need to comprehensively implement the fundamental tasks of the educating people, and put the education in practice in a variety of ways; second, we need to effectively improve the comprehensive ability of the leaders and teachers to help students develop with talent; third, we need to continuously raise students’ awareness to take on the responsibility to be the forerunner and pioneer with commitment. Zhao encouraged all YSU youth to carry forward the spirit of the May Fourth Movement, shoulder the responsibility of our times, and make their own contribution to the construction of YSU’s “double first-class” goal and the great rejuvenation of China and the Chinese dream., thus embracing and celebrating the 70thanniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China with outstanding results!

Huang Sheng delivered a report on the work of student affairs and Communist Youth League. He summarized the work in 2018 school group from six aspects and made plans for the work in 2019 in combination with the problems and challenges at present.

The award ceremony was divided into three parts where outstanding student individuals, outstanding workers for the Communist Youth League, 10 outstanding counsellors, outstanding student collectives, outstanding units for student affairs and outstanding committees in each school of the Communist Youth League were awarded and their deeds were shared and introduced.
Zhu Jiaqi, YSU 2018 Annual Person from YSU School of Mechanical Engineering, who has gained admission to Huazhong University of Science and Technology without taking national postgraduate entrance examination, Zeng Hui, counsellor from YSU School of Science, who won the first prize inthe 5thHebei college counselor skills competition, and Chen Gexin, Deputy Secretary of Party Committee of School of Information Science and Engineering, delivered speeches respectively on behalf ofoutstanding student individuals, outstanding workers for student affairs, and outstanding units.

With careful preparation, the 2019 Conference on Student Affairs and Communist Youth League managed to create a grand atmosphere and an inspiring award ceremony with the video showing the good deeds of the eminent representatives. The sense of honor inspired all the students deeply to learn from the outstanding individuals and make up the determination to work hard. In the future, YSU will continue to carry forward Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, fulfill the task of educating people, constantly promote the students’ ideological and political education, and contribute to the new round of the YSU’s “Double First-class” construction.
