[News from the News Center] Based on the cooperation MoU, YSU and Smederevo Vocational High School (SVHS) of Serbia have conducted in-depth consultations with respect to the details concerning a joint collaboration. The nature of this collaboration has been finalized, resulting in some significant achievements. On September 17 and October 7, 2020, the signing ceremonies of the Overseas Student Source Base Agreement were held at SVHS and at YSU respectively.
Professor Simo Djordjevski, Principal of Smederevo Vocational High School, Professor Dejan Vemic Zamenik, Vice Principal of Smederevo Vocational High School, Srdjan Stefanovic, Secretary General of Smederevo municipal government, and Wang Wenmin, project officer of the China-Europe Silk Road Cultural Exchange and Cooperation Association participated in the signing ceremony at the Serbian venue; while Zhao Dingxuan, President of Yanshan University, Chen Guoqiang, Vice President of Yanshan University, and other officials from the School of International Education participated in the signing ceremony at the Yanshan University venue.

The Agreement states that YSU will become an educational base for students from SVHS in Chinese language training, internships, and studying abroad. After 2021, SVHS will each year select some outstanding high school graduates to do undergraduate program in Mechanical Engineering at our university. In December 2019, Zhao Xianfeng, Secretary of the Party Committee at our university, led a delegation to visit Serbia and reached an agreement to collaborate with SVHS and HBIS Serbia to establish the overseas student education and talent training base. The signing of the agreement indicates that substantial progress has been made based on the past discussions.
YSU's long-term plan is to continue to pursue in-depth consultations with HBIS on talent training and practical internships. Serbian students who have completed their undergraduate studies at our university will enter HBIS Serbia for internships or work, which will enable our university to form a comprehensive and strategic collaboration of talent training with SVHS and HBIS Serbia.

The officials of Smederevo municipal government has paid great attention to this strategic cooperation between the two sides and announced that they would spare no effort to support the SVHS's Overseas Student Education Base at YSU, and promote the development of more in-depth cooperation between the two sides.
Zhao Dingxuan said that the signing of the Overseas Student Education Base Agreement with SVHS is of great significance. The Agreement broadens our university's international student recruitment channels and promotes our friendship with our partner educational institutions in Serbia through exchanges and cooperation. More importantly, this move will give full play to our university's academic advantages, support Hebei enterprises to "going global", and contribute to the training of outstanding mechanical engineering talents of HBIS Serbia.
Mr. Simo, the principal of SVHS said that China and Serbia have a strong friendship. SVHS and YSU will also continue to sustain the friendship through substantive international exchanges and cooperation, and continue to promote the in-depth cooperation between the two institutions. Both sides will work together to cultivate and deliver more outstanding professionals for HBIS Serbia.
This cooperation agreement will produce high-level technical talents for HBIS Serbia. It is an important measure for our university to respond to the Belt and Road Initiative and help Hebei enterprises expand their business overseas.
