The First National Space Mechanism Conference, hosted by the Space Mechanism Branch Committee of the Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society and co-organized by Yanshan University, BeijingSpaceVehicleOverallDesignDepartment, and Harbin Institute of Technology, was held in Qinhuangdao, Hebei Province from November 3 to 5. This conference was the first academic annual meeting held since the establishment of the Space Mechanism Branch Committee of the Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society. Themed "Integrating the Power of Space Mechanism, Boosting the Construction of China into a Major Power in Space", the conference aimed to enhance mutual understanding among the space mechanism experts, promote the exchange of latest research results, address the challenges of future major aerospace missions to the development of mechanism as a science, and assist in the development of China's aerospace technology.
Huang Zhen, Honorary Chairman of the Conference and Professor of Yanshan University, Deng Zongquan, Chairman of the Conference, academician from ChineseAcademyofEngineering, Vice President of the Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society, Chairman of the Space Mechanism Branch Committee and Professor of Harbin Institute of Technology, Luan Dakai, Assistant Secretary General of the Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society and Head of the General Management Department of the Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society, Zhao Dingxuan, President of Yanshan University and Wang Desong, Vice President of Yanshan University, as well as more than 400 experts and scholars from 53 research institutes and 42 universities, including BeijingSpaceVehicleOverallDesignDepartment, Beijing Institute of Control Engineering, Shanghai Institute of Aerospace Systems Engineering, Xi'an Branch of China Academy of Space Technology, Tsinghua University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University and Beihang University, gathered together to seek new outlooks and ideas for developing the space mechanism.

The opening ceremony was presided over by Professor Zhao Yongsheng, former Vice President of Yanshan University, who was the co-chairman of the conference. Luan Dakai, on behalf of the Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society, pointed out in his speech that this conference is a milestone in the development history of the Space Mechanism Branch Committee and also a remarkable event in the academic exchange history of the society. He hoped that the Committee would vigorously uphold the spirit of manned spaceflight and the enterprising ambitions of scientists in the future, actively build exchange platforms in the field of space mechanisms at home and abroad, and contribute to the high-quality development of China's aerospace industry. Wang Desong, Vice President of Yanshan University, expressed warm welcome to the present officials, experts and scholars in his speech, conveyed sincere gratitude to the friends from all walks of life who have long cared for and supported the development of Yanshan University, and emphasized that Yanshan University would continue to serve the aerospace industry as part of the great cause. In his speech, Chief Engineer Cong Qiang from BeijingSpaceVehicleOverallDesignDepartment stated that they would continue to bolster the development of the Space Mechanism Branch Committee, fully integrate the strength of space agencies, and create signature academic activities. Professor Huang Zhen from Yanshan University encouraged young scholars to integrate philosophical ideas, practice thinking and innovation and vitalize China's aerospace industry by sharing their academic experiences.

The invited speech part during the conference was hosted by Yang Jianzhong, Deputy Chief Engineer of Beijing Space Vehicle Overall Design Department, Professor Liu Rongqiang of Harbin Institute of Technology, and Cong Qiang, Chief Engineer of Beijing Space Vehicle Overall Design Department. At the conference, Academician Deng Zongquan gave a report entitled "New Progress in Research on Aerospace Space Mechanism", focusing on the latest research achievements made by the ResearchCenterofAerospaceMechanismandControl, HarbinInstituteof Technology in the fields of near space deformable spacecraft, space fold-unfold and lock-unlock mechanisms, lunar and Mars exploration robots, and sharing his prospects for the development of aerospace space mechanisms.

Researcher Li Xiao from Beijing Space Vehicle Overall Design Department, Professor Gao Feng from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Professor Zhao Yongsheng from Yanshan University, Professor Ding Xilun from Beihang University, Researcher Zhang Jiyang from Beijing Institute of Control Engineering, Professor Wang Liqin from Harbin Institute of Technology, Researcher Pan Bo from Beijing Space Vehicle Overall Design Department, and Professor Chen Yan from Tianjin University, Researcher Ma Xiaofei from Xi'an Branch of China Academy of Space Technology (represented by Dr. Wang Hui), Researcher Wang Yue from China Academy of Launch Vehicle Technology, and Professor Cai Jianguo from Southeast University were invited to give speeches at the conference.
The conference offered four sub-venues for discussing innovative design and new material technology of space mechanisms, modeling, simulation and control technology of space mechanisms, manufacturing integration and in-orbit construction technology of space mechanisms, experimental verification and engineering applications of space mechanisms, where 88 academic reports were given.
Invited Lectures
During the conference, a meeting of the Standing Committee of the Space Mechanism Branch Committee was also held, during which more than 30 experts and scholars, including Academician Deng Zongquan, provided constructive suggestions, and discussed and exchanged ideas on the future development of the Space Mechanism Branch Committee.

During the meeting, attending representatives also visited the University History Museum of Yanshan University, Parallel Mechanism and Electromechanical System Laboratory of Hebei Province, Heavy Machinery Fluid Power Transmission and Control Laboratory of Hebei Province, and the National & Local Joint Engineering Research Center for Advanced Manufacturing Forming Technology and Equipment.

This conference has focused on the development of space mechanisms, comprehensively showcases the latest research progress in space mechanism academia, offered a platform for academic exchange and mutual learning of achievements in space mechanisms, and promoted interdisciplinary integration and innovation, which has injected a shot in the arm of space mechanisms and advanced the implementation of China's "major power in space" strategy and construction of the aerospace technology innovation system.
