Recently, the music cognitive science and music therapy talents training project declared by YSU was approved by China Scholarship Council for the special project grants of artistic talent training in 2024, which achieved a historic breakthrough in the organized national artistic government-sponsored oversea education projects of the universities in Hebei Province.
This project is intended to train the high-level artistic talents with the international vision, international competitiveness and artistic creativity. It is a phased achievement of “Promotion Project of Talent Training Internationalization” of YSU, provides a new practical reference for YSU to continue to integrate the oversea foreign high-quality resources, accelerate the interdisciplinary integration, and promote the construction of world-class university and advantageous disciplines with Chinese characteristics.
The music cognitive science and music therapy talents training project is coordinated by YSU and implemented by Associate Professor Xu Qiujian of the School of Arts and Design. Chen Guoqiang, Vice President of YSU, took the lead in the project defense on behalf of YSU. The foreign cooperative institution is Daegu Catholic University, South Korea, and the implementation period of the project is three years. One visiting scholar majoring in music is selected every year, and one master degree candidate is jointly trained, with a total of six people dispatched in three years. This project focuses on the concept of “Integration of Art and Science, Intersection of Music and Engineering", aiming at "reform and construction of new art disciplines and establishment of a new major of music engineering", which will provide a solid communication platform for the international development of artistic teachers and students, play an important supporting role in the development of design, musicology and dance disciplines, inject new vitality into further promoting the internationalization of artistic disciplines, and provide support for the construction of "Double First-class" initiative proposed by YSU.
It is reported that the special project for training artistic talents is mainly implemented for art colleges, comprehensive universities with art majors, normal colleges, domestic art groups or institutions at all levels, etc. According to the principle of first project approval and then selection, the project focuses on interdisciplinary and emerging disciplines, artistic majors that can cultivate originality, creativity or innovative thinking, and a long-term mechanism is established for training artistic talents, and an independent, coherent and large-scale whole chain training mode of directional selection, dispatch and employment is formed.
