YSU Makes New Breakthrough in High-level International Talent Training Program

Recently, the mechanical discipline of YSU was awarded funding for two 2024 international cooperative training programs for innovative talents by China Scholarship Council, marking a double breakthrough in the quantity and quality of international cooperative training programs for innovative talents of YSU, and making an important contribution in improving the development of "Double First-class" initiative.

The international cooperative training program of innovative talents in terms of green and intelligent production theory and technology of advanced metal materials in achieving the Dual Carbon Goals” is presided over by Professor Peng Yan from School of Mechanical Engineering. The foreign university involved in the cooperative program is Polytechnic University of Milan, which ranks 1st in Italy and 123rd in QS in 2024. The program serves the training needs of national professionals in carbon peaking and carbon neutrality, and aims to speed up the training of high-level international talents in terms of green and intelligent production theory and technology of advanced metal materials in achieving the Dual Carbon Goals”. The implementation period is 3 years, and 6 doctoral students and 3 teachers will be sent to Polytechnic University of Milan, and the Institute of Condensed Chemistry and Energy Technology, National Research Council of Italy to carry out joint training and cooperative research.

The international talent training program of intelligent robots is presided over by Professor Yao Jiantao from School of Mechanical Engineering. This program was approved in 2021. During the program, YSU jointly undertook and completed EUs 7th Framework Programme, the Sino-Romania Joint Laboratory Project of Intelligent Robots and EUs Horizon 2020 SMOOTH with Edinburgh Napier University. Because of the outstanding achievements, the program was awarded funding for another three years, and 3 doctoral students and 3 teachers will be sent to Edinburgh Napier University to carry out joint training and cooperative research.

International cooperative training program of innovative talents focuses on supporting the "Cooperation of Prominent Universities" between China and foreign countries and the "Strength Cooperation" in advantageous disciplines, aiming at encouraging and promoting universities to actively explore new ideas and measures in the opening up of higher education and to cultivate more innovative, scarce and compound international talents.

In recent years, YSU has actively promoted government-sponsored overseas education in consideration of the national strategy, the development of disciplines and the needs of talent training. In 2023, a total of 46 teachers and students were funded by China Scholarship Council, reaching a new high. Another three special programs were also approved, contributing to the connotative and high-quality development of YSU international exchange in the post-epidemic era.
