Recently, the 2024 ITS China Congress, organized by the China Intelligent Transportation Systems Association (ITS China), was held at Hangzhou International Expo Center. The Congress recognized the projects winning the 2024 Science and Technology Award of ITS China. The project “Key Technology for Multi-Dimensional Safety Prevention and Control of Smart Vehicle Driving and Its Application”, led by Professor Jin Lisheng at the School of Vehicle and Energy, Yanshan University (YSU), won the 1st prize of the Technological Invention Award. It was the first project initiated by YSU in this sector.

The project focuses on critical global challenges in vehicle driving safety, including “challenging environmental risk assessment”, “vulnerable information security”, and “insufficient control over safe operations”. It has made a technical breakthrough in multilevel security situation awareness and risk assessment for smart vehicles. Additionally, this project has brought forth zone-based defense-in-depth technologies that enhance information security for smart vehicles, and introduced automated testing methods. Furthermore, it has created multi-realm collaborative decision-making and control technologies to classify smart vehicle driving safety, systematically improving the safety of smart vehicle operations. During the project execution phase, several key technologies were developed, including multilevel security situation awareness and risk assessment system for smart vehicles, automated testing tools for the information security of smart vehicles, and cooperative decision-making and control technology for platoon vehicle safety operations. These innovations have been successfully applied in fields such as intelligent driving and information security for self-driving cars, leading to significant technological achievements with independent intellectual property rights. These achievements have been promoted and utilized by several companies, including GWM and the China Automotive Technology and Research Center, resulting in significant economic and social benefits.
Approved by the National Office for Science & Technology Awards, the “Science and Technology Award of ITS China” has been celebrated for 12 consecutive years. Currently, it has become a significant and influential award in the intelligent transportation sector.
At the 2024 Science and Technology Award of ITS China, a total of 58 projects received the Science and Technology Progress Award—including 6 for the 1st prize, 34 for the 2nd prize, and 18 for the 3rd prize. Additionally, 4 projects were honored with the Technological Invention Award (2 for the 1st prize and 2 for the 2nd prize). The event also recognized 5 recipients of the Innovation Award, 9 winners of the Youth Science and Technology Award, and 2 group winners of the Innovation Group Award.
