Time: 9:30-11:00April 24th(Monday), 2017

Venue:J3 classroom, Mechanical Building

Dr. Qingjin Peng is a TenuredProfessor, Professional Engineer in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Manitoba, Canada. He received his Bachelor and Master Degrees from Xian Jiaotong University, China, and Doctorate from University of Birmingham, UK. His research areas include virtual manufacturing, computer-aided design and manufacturing, sustainableproduct design, design for disassembly and maintenance, simulation modelling and applications. Dr. Peng has received research grants from various funding agencies including Federal Government of Canada, Government of the Province of Manitoba, University and Industries. He has published over 200 refereed papers in international journals and conferences. Most significant research contributions include: A dynamic approach was firstly introduced for product assembly and selective disassembly analysis based on tools’ feasibility and accessibility. It has improved the traditional way in product analysis and fixture design for the product lifecycle management. An image-based 3D modeling method was developed for reverse engineering and virtual environment (VE) constructions. Methods are developed based on Virtual Manufacturing technologies. The methods have been applied in the design of adaptable products, process planning, facilities planning and tissue engineering.

Prof. Peng is an associate editor or editorial board member of three international journals. He has served as Chairs/Co-Chairs or Program Chairs for ASME/DFMLC and CAD conferences. He was the chair of Design for Manufacturing Committee of ASME Design Engineering Division, and president of Association of Chinese Professor in Manitoba. He is a registered professional engineer in Manitoba and members of ASME, CSME and SME. He is the guest professor of Nanchang University (from 2006), and the Chair professor of Shantou University (from 2012).
