Topic: Analysis of Event System Theory (EST) and Its Application in Organizational Sciences and Practice

Lecturer: Dong Liu

Venue: C405, Building of Economics and Management, West Campus

Abstract: Feature-oriented theories are adopted in current organizational sciences. However, the events that occur to organizations come to impact and change organizations. Thus, Prof. Liu and his cooperators put forward Event System Theory (Morgeson, Mitchell& Liu, 2015), which brings event into organizational research, and further drives forward the development of organizational sciences, teaching and consultation. In this lecture, Prof. Dong Liu will specifically expound the main contents of EST: how event time (event timing, event duration and so on), event space (event origin, event spatial dispersion and event spatial proximity) and event strength(novelty, disruption and criticality)determine events’ impact onrelated entities. He will deeply analyze abundant chances that EST brings to organizational sciences, teaching, and consultation.
