Speaker Introduction
Prof. Du, born in Beijing in 1948, is a professor at the Academy of Arts & Design of Tsinghua University, member of the Chinese Artists Association, member of the China National Arts and Crafts Society, China Sculpture Institute, member of the Chinese Arts and Crafts Expert Group, director of the Beijing Arts and Crafts Society, and judge of the Chinese Arts and Crafts Expert Review Group among other roles.
His works have been displayed in the exchange exhibitions in South Korea, China and Japan. He also participated in international and domestic stone sculpture camps held in Yanqing, Beijing and Fujian Hui’an. A number of his ceramic sculptures, pottery, sculptures of various materials works were sent to domestic and international exhibitions, and won awards. Many works and articles have been published in various publications.
Lecture Content
Based on the study and creation of sculpture tradition, the lecture analyzes the connotation of traditional sculptures in the East and West. The sculptor's works are interpreted and appreciated, and the traditions and the rules of sculpture creation are studied.
