Speaker Introduction

Born in Handan, Hebei in 1959, Huang Xingguo is now the Dean of the College of Art and Design of Hebei Normal University (HNU), Deputy Dean of the HNU College of Fine Art and Design, and a professor and a master supervisor of HNU College of Fine Art and Design. Besides, Huang is a member of China Artists Association, Director of China Sculpture Institute, Standing Committee Member of Sculpture Professional Committee of China National Arts and Crafts Society, Member of Art Committee of China City SculptureAssociation, Director of Hebei Sculpture Art Association, Dean of Sculpture Institute of Hebei Painting Academy, Vice President of Hebei Arts and Crafts Society.

Huang’s sculptures “Cloud”, “Implication”, “Unknown Hero”, “Metro Line 3”, and “Shooting on Horse in Hu Dress” were selected in the 8th, 9th, 10th, 11thand 12thnational art exhibition respectively. In 2016, he held individual works exhibition in Beijing and Shijiazhuang. His sculpture “The last soldier on the nameless highland” was awarded the National Art Exhibition Excellence Award at the 80thAnniversary of the CPC Founding and “Nie Rongzhen and Mihoko” at the 85thAnniversary of the Army building.

He has published many papers and art reviews with various academic journals in China. Huang published the monograph “Clay headportrait” at Hebei Fine Arts Publishing Housein 1999, the album “Chinese Contemporary Sculptor - Huang Xingguo” at Tianjin People’s Fine Arts Publishing Housein 2013, the album “Airspace” at Hebei Fine Arts Publishing House in 2016.

Lecture Content

In response to the subject of inheritance and innovative practice of classical works in art education, Prof. Huang Xingguo puts forward a number of art research points worthy of attention based on his practice and exploration of art teaching in many years. Huang always seeks to attract talents and promote art researchers, and leads researchers to think together in order to change the hardships and boring environment of academic research, thus giving them confidence and desire for their own achievements, and making interest and enthusiasm the first driving force for design research.
