[News from the News Center] On December 1, the 16th “Huawei Cup” China Graduate Mathematical Modeling Contest Award Ceremony was held at Fuzhou University. In this competition, YSU team won 1 first prize, 10 second prizes, and 14 third prizes. YSU won the Outstanding Organization Award. This is the first time that our university has achieved this good performance in history of Mathematics Modeling Competition.

To prepare for this competition, the Graduate School actively organized the event. In the first half of this year, our university hosted the second Hebei Province Graduate Mathematical Modeling Contest. The graduate students participating in this competition are all outstanding members selected by the provincial competition. In the end, 121 teams from seven schools, including the School of Mechanical Engineering, the School of Electrical Engineering, the School of Information Science and Engineering, and the School of Science, participated in the competition, and the teacher supervisors also selected from the School of Science. In the future, our university will further increase the support for graduate discipline competitions, encourage graduate students to participate in high-level discipline competitions, and constantly improve our university graduates’ innovative ability and improve the quality of talent training.
China Postgraduate Mathematical Modeling Contest is one of the theme competitions “China Postgraduate Innovation Practice Series Activities” organized by the Ministry of Education’s Degree and Graduate Education Development Center. A total of 16,222 teams from universities including Tsinghua University, Zhejiang University, Shanghai Jiaotong University, Tongji University and other universities registered for the competition. Finally, 14014 teams submitted papers and successfully participated in the competition. After a series of reviews and assessments, 188 first prize teams, 1903 second prize teams, and 2,823 third prize teams were finally selected. A total of 4,914 participating teams won the prizes, with a winning ratio of 34.3%.
