YSU Scored High in the 7th China Petroleum Engineering Design Competition

School of Vehicle and Energy won a second prize, 5 third prizes, 5 encouragement awards and 16 successful entries in the 7thChina Petroleum Engineering Design Competition from May 13thto 14th. Jie Han, Wenming Ren, Cuijiao Wang and Yingbin Xu from the Department of Petroleum Engineering entered into the finals of the integrated group, and won the second prize.At the same time, in the 7thNational Petroleum Engineering Knowledge Contest, YSU team, composed of graduate student Xing Wand, and undergraduate students Chao Xu, Ying Feng, and Yixuan Wang, won the first prize (ranking second in China), which is a historical breakthrough. Besides, Zifeng Li, Jingyuan Li, Manping Yang, Dongying Han and other teachers won the "Excellent Instructor" awards, and Pinghua Ma the "Outstanding Individual" award.

The 7thChina Petroleum Engineering Design Competition was about "optimal design of high efficiency development of carbonate oil and gas resources", attracting 2295 teams from 58 universities and academic institutes both at home and abroad. A total of 1161 effective entries were submitted, and 62 were selected for the finals---on-site Q&A. The judges, with years of research and work experiences at major oil companies, asked those competitors questions and then made comments.

28 petroleum universities and research institutes at home and abroad gathered in Beijing to compete in the 7th"Petroleum Encyclopedia Cup" (National Petroleum Engineering Knowledge Contest) and the "PetroCup" (International Petroleum Engineering Knowledge Contest). YSU team stood out from 23 domestic colleges and universities after fierce competition---two rounds of group stages, semi-final and the final, and won the second prize, which enabled YSU to participate in the "PetroCup" International Petroleum Engineering Knowledge Contest in the afternoon on behalf of petroleum universities in China.

Jointly sponsored by China Academic Degrees & Graduate Education Development Center, China National Committee of World Petroleum Council, Chinese Petroleum Society and China Petroleum Education Society, and undertaken by China University of Petroleum-Beijing, the contest was held in Beijing.YSU, a sub-division of the contest, was greatly supported by YSU Graduate Office, Academic Affairs Office, School of Vehicle and Energy and other relevant departments. China Petroleum Engineering Design Competition provided students in petroleum colleges and universities an academic platform for mutual learning, mutual discussion and mutual promotion, thus praised as "the Olympics" in petroleum education.
