[News from News Center] Sponsored by the Engineering Sub-Committee of Hebei Graduate Education Steering Committee, and hosted by YSU and North China University of Science and Technology, Graduate Education in Engineering and Discipline Construction Seminar was held at North China University of Science and Technology on May 12th.The conference discussed the problems in graduate education in engineering and discipline construction topromote educational reform and improve the quality of graduate education.
Attending the conference were Prof. Fucheng Zhang, YSU Vice President and Director of Engineering Sub-committee; Prof. Dingxuan Zhao, YSU Vice President and Deputy Director of Engineering Sub-committee; Prof. Runhua Tan, Vice President of Hebei University of Technology and Deputy Director of Engineering Sub-Committee; Prof. Shuheng Wang, member of the Standing Committee of North China University of Technology and Deputy Director of Engineering Sub-Committee, and over 70 experts and members of Graduate Education Committee in Engineering from 16 universities in Hebei Province. Yingping Guan, the Secretary-General of Engineering Sub-Committee and the Dean of YSU Graduate School, hosted the conference.
The conference
Prof. Yuzhu Zhang, Party Secretary of North China University of Science and Technology attended the opening ceremony and made an address on behalf of North China University of Science and Technology. Prof. Fucheng Zhang, YSU Vice President and Director of Engineering Sub-committee, delivered an opening address and shared his thoughts on graduate education in Hebei under the new situation. Yingping Guan, the Secretary-General of Engineering Sub-Committee and the Dean of YSU Graduate School gave a report on the Committee work.

At the conference, Prof.Fucheng Zhang, announced the list of new members of the Sub-Committee and issued letters of appointment. Prof.Dingxuan Zhao, Ronghua Tan and Shuheng Wang, made keynote speeches from graduate curriculum research, innovative educational concept,and "New Engineering" concept respectively.
The members of the Sub-Committee voted to pass the "Regulations of Engineering Sub-Committee of Hebei Graduate Education Steering Committee", and exchanged their ideas about the construction, operation,and management of internship bases for graduates; revision of graduate education program, thesis similarities and differences between professional degree and academic degree, Engineering research directions, maximizing the benefits of the constructive fund, performance appraisal and evaluation, and textbook compilation.
The success of the conference is of great significance to promote graduate education reform and discipline construction in Hebei Province and improve the quality of graduates.
