[News from News Center] On June 3th, 2017 Bird’s Nest1stNational University Laser-Run Championship was held in Beijing National Stadium. This championship included 9 events of singles and relay races. YSU team, after 2-day heated competition, won 1 first prize, 3 second prizes and 3 third prizes, and the total score of the team ranked second place nationally. Haifeng Xu,China’s first Olympic gold medalistand Deputy Director of Cycling and Fencing Management Center under General Administration of Sport of China, presented awards to the winners.

Led by Zhongwei Jiang, Party Secretary of School of Physical Education and coached by teachers Xiaojun Wang, Yanlong Chen and Huawei Liu, a team of 8 student athletes from School of Materials Science and Engineering, School of Electrical Engineering, School of Vehicle and Energy, and School of Physical Education participated in this championship. Laser-Run Championship takes the essence of Olympic modern pentathlon in the form of cross-country race and laser shooting, thus, it requires athletes’ good somatic function and high psychological quality. This championship integrates modern technology and traditional sports, worthy of promotion on campus.
Sponsored by Cycling and Fencing Management Center under General Administration of Sport of China, Chinese Modern Pentathlon Association, Beijing Federation of University Sports and National Stadium Co., Ltd, this championship attracted over 670 athletes from Tsinghua University, Beijing University, University of Science & Technology Beijing, Beijing University of Technology, Capital University of Physical Education and Sports, Sun Yat-sen University, YSU, Nanjing University of Finance & Economics and other 30 universities.
